OK, returning from my latest ferry flight I get off the plane and there are 2 Department Of Homeland Security Officers Checking Passports and my name on a paper next thing I Know they take my passport and ask me to come with them for an interview just like my last trip to Atlanta when the same thing happened just the bunch of usual Questions about my trip to Lebanon etc. I ask them why i am being detained they told me i should have been told when i was detained in Atlanta my name is on the IBIS list and I will be detained and searched for clearance every time I reenter the U.S.? They handed me a rather unhelpful paper and did not explain why I am on the list.

Did you consult the State Department prior to your trip to Lebanon?

Maybe you should change your name! Are you a citizen or an LPR?

Though not nearly as life threatening as the rest, this is another reason to give up the 'glory' you seem to be chasing. You'll never truly get off of that list, you know. You're in way over your head in so many respects.

Is it really worth it?

Edit: it occurs to me....and this is a real question, not rhetorical: How will this show up on a background check for a real job?

I agree that it probably has something to do with the State Department.
They have list called TIPOFF they give to Homeland Security. Other agencies give them information too.

Wonder if a Freedom of Information Act request would get him any thing.

I am a U.S. Citizen by Birth, Born and Raised in the U.S.A.! As were my parents and grand parents!

Not chasing the airlines!

Q: Additional Questions?

A: Any concerns you may have as an international traveler or importer about the use or application of IBIS may be address to:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection
Freedom of Information Act/
Customer Satisfaction Unit
Room 5.5 C
1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20229

Airline background checks are a joke!

Maybe, but being on some list will show up with fingerprint check(and you'll get fingerprinted just to get SIDA badge. More than just airlines require those). The FBI is one of the agencies covered under "interagency". Not claiming that it will amount to anything, but why take chances? That's the question I posed.
