Gentlemen/Ladies, I am an airline type that still likes to fly and never planned on retiring at sixty. I have 3 years to go and have been kicking around qualifying as helicopter pilot. I fulling realize I would be spending a min of say 18 month as a CFI .The question is how much time would I need before a position would come my way as a tour (NV/HI) or heliski pilot. thanks ...JW

I'm an ex-airline guy and luckily had this helicopter rating to fall back on. You're gonna need any where from 1500-2500 PIC hours and most tour operators will want at least 1000 hours turbine PIC. Some of the offshore helicopter operators like Petroleum Helicopters and Air Logistics will put low time helicopter pilots in as an SIC and you can build turbine time up quickly. Good luck.
