Who cares what you got what about the guy that retired or is about to retire that lost millions and will only get a couple hundred thousand what about him. You guys sold the retired pilots out if you can't admit it thats fine. Have fun in Cairo.

Most of the retired guys got almost all of their retirement, primarily because the PBGC was made "whole" by the new stock claim sale. A lot of guys that left early thought they were going to get NOTHING, but actually got most of what they were owed. It is great that you don't really know the facts. The guys that couldn't leave early got large checks, and the guys who left will see a lot more than they expected.

Nope. I was wrong. That is Cairo. Sorry.

Delta Air Lines Builds On Successful Expansion At New York-JFK With 14 New International Routes
Wednesday September 26, 10:30 am ET
Summer 2008 schedule offers convenient connections to Europe, Africa and Middle East for 80 percent of U.S. flyers, including multiple routes not served by any other major U.S. airline Expansion enabled by redesigned JFK schedule that aims to reduce congestion, rush hour delays
NEW YORK, Sept. 26, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL - News) -- the largest global carrier at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport -- is introducing a redesigned schedule for summer 2008 that accommodates growing customer demand at JFK while taking steps to reduce airport congestion and delays.
Delta plans to offer increased choice on 14 new international routes* -- including nine destinations not served by any other U.S. major airline from JFK -- and will offer customers improved on-time reliability by reducing the number of Delta flights operating during peak hours.
The efficiencies of the new schedule will allow Delta to offer customers a total of 204 daily departures to 93 destinations from New York-JFK by June 2008, including: -- Nine new trans-Atlantic routes with nonstop service between JFK and: Tel Aviv, Israel (effective March 10)*; Edinburgh, Scotland (effective May 1); Dakar, Senegal (effective June 2)*; Nairobi, Kenya (via Dakar) (effective June 2)*; Cairo, Egypt (effective June 4) *; Malaga, Spain (effective June 4)*; Amman, Jordan (effective June 5) *; and Lagos, Nigeria (effective June 9)*; and, subject to DOT approval, Cape Town, South Africa (via Dakar) (effective June 3)*. In conjunction with today's announcement, Delta is applying to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for authority to add the only direct service operated by a U.S. carrier to Cape Town. -- Five new Latin America routes with nonstop service between JFK and Panama City, Panama (effective Dec. 13); Guatemala City, Guatemala (effective Dec. 14); Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (effective Dec. 20)*; San Jose, Costa Rica (effective Feb. 15)*; and Liberia, Costa Rica (effective Feb. 16)*.

Senegal, Kenya, Lagos..........get your shots up to date.

There is no point in trying to talk with a 3 year old.
Bye Bye!

I'd rather fly a 737 full of the filthiest, cow-$hit covered Texans who'd been roughnecks, farming, or ranching for the last 3 days in the summer jwithout taking a shower than to fly a 767 full of Egypt's finest and most elite.

Want to know why?

The 737 would smell better....

I have issues why! because if general wants to stir the pot I should just sit back and noyt have any fun with it sorry dude you came to the wrong board then. I stand by everything I said, he starts these threads just to pi$$ people off so I answer back.

I was not talking about giving the General sh#t or stiring the pot, I was refering to your smart a$$ remark about Delta going into BK again. Unless you have some proof that it is going to happen, you are just some a$$ hole with nothing important to say and I stand by my post saying you have issues....BTW I am NOT The General.

When I give actual FACTS, like what happened to our retired pilots, this is how you respond. Debating just isn't for you. In fact, you might just be retarded.

Is this why you are still flying the 727 to Grand Forks? Your MD11s do round the world flights thru Mumbai, Dubai, etc. Maybe someday you will give it a shot.

Any Delta pilot flying to Africa has to get their shots up to date, including yellow fever shots. All of the 767ER pilots have had them, and now the 764 pilots are required to get them since that plane is going to do the Dakar/Joberg run from ATL this Winter. Thanks for caring.

don't mention it.

maybe this thread will get interesting......this board has been lame for a while now.

you just don't get it.

How doesn't GL get it? Perhaps you could add more to your petty little one line remarks. I think you are wrong.

Delta's expansion is great news for a lot of pilots out there. If you want some international variety (Paris, Cairo, Seoul, Cape Town, Buenos Aires, Nairobi, etc.) and you want to fly widebodies, Delta might be the best choice out there beyond Fedex/UPS. If you want to fly one aircraft type on a purely domestic basis, SWA might be your best choice. I don't see anything wrong with GL's original statements.

I think what he is trying to say is that, it is fine GL is happy with expansion but don't be talking about how great it is going to be flying to "exotic" places while the other "lowlifes" fly to Lubbock, etc.

I really hate to say this because I may sound like GL, but, GL, my company flies more long haul than you could dream of. Yeah, we go to "exotic" places, but in the end it is still another night I am out of my bed away from my family, half way around the world. Is it a good job? Absolutely, but right now I'd take any domestic trip.

Never been there, eh? Wow, Oakland, the Chicago Midway area, Baltimore, and Houston are sooo much better.

Bye Bye--General Lee

General quit wasting your time with these p$icks! If they dont like Delta, they dont like Delta! Who gives a $hit what they think! Lets just keep working to make our airline better and better! Now that I am off the mad dog and on the 767ER, life is much, much better! These guys are a waste of time!

Well please do us Delta people a favor and go fly your little puddle jumper to LBB then! GOd, what am I saying, how am I getting sucked into this childish $hit? SWA is a great airline, more power to you all!

You think I'm wrong? Wrong about what? Yes, the expansion is great for everyone involved, it really is. Happy now?

54 gets what I was saying. Not everyone feels the need to go off on 1-2 week trips to Mumbai, etc. I'm sure if Albie wants to bid the long haul a/c he will. Everything is a tradeoff. "Lowlife" flying around the 48 may not be as glamorous, but who really cares at the end of the day?

May I suggest you go back and look at who started this thread... it was GL; it seems that he genuinely likes wasting his time going back and forth regarding the pros of Delta and the cons of Southwest. I honestly don't know why or how these silly threads get started and what sustains them. It certainly isn't debating, it's just worthless bashing back and forth; what's the point?

I find it funny that certain DL guys here rip on SWA for flying to LBB, MAF, AMA, etc... never mind the fact that DL used to fly to these cities back in the '80s. Yep, in 1984-5 Delta used their new fleet of 737-200s to expand the DFW hub with new flying to LBB, AMA, ABQ, ELP, AUS, SAT, OKC, TUL, SHV, MLU. etc. Eh, never mind that, let's fly to Lagos instead, it'll be neat-o!

And FWIW, I like Delta; I grew up a DL kid, my Dad had a 35 year career there, 1967 (DC-6 f/e) to 2002 (777 ca).

I should know when to stop but oh well we only live once. Whta facts a retired pilot who would retire would normally leave with a check for 800,000 and have another 800,000 kept at delta to be paid out. Now with the BK these guys got what 3-400,000 how is that fair or right for that matter. You sold them out if you can sleep at night knowing that fine, but I used to work with guys that were retired 767-400 capts. that lost it half of their pension and are not getting it back.

General Lee is a big boy. He doesn't need anyone brown noser to haul his water for him. Besides he has 9000 more posts than I do. That's the real point here.

That really is sad. You must want to just die. I mean, you are already bored with your airline. That stinks. I, on the other hand, really like variety, and the option to fly domestic or INTL flights. The difference is the work rules, and I can get all of my trips done sooner or in one big bunch, or fly the standard domestic month with 3 or 4 on, and then 4 or so off. I actually still get a smile on my face walking up to the gate seeing an exotic destination in my immediate future. I hope that fire returns to you someday.

That's not how it went at all. Guys that left early got 1/2 in a lump sum in cash. The other half was "thought to be" lost, but in reality the PBGC will give them most of what they were owed thanks to themselves being made "whole." The other pilots that stayed got some cash, and will also get some from the PBGC, many very close to what they would have gotten had they left. If they were "dead zoners", or guys that could not leave due to age (not 50 at the time of BK), they may have a bit less eventually, but they will now get more time via the age 65 rule, and they didn't have usually as much time with the company. They also were upgraded sooner to Widebody Captain, meaning they will make more than they would have had 2300 guys NOT left early. It all works out. Any more questions?

Hey, I enjoy stirring the pot every once and a while. Give me a break. It really gets boring on here sometimes, kinda like an average day flying intra Texas at Southwest.

I am glad you like Delta. I like Southwest. I have always stated that. I just wouldn't like to fly there because of the schedules and one airplane type. Everything else is great, including the pay and the stews. As far as flying to Lagos, I don't plan on doing that, but someone will. If I do, then I bet we stay in the nicest place in town for security reasons.

It's a friggin job GL, get over it! Nothing more, nothing less. In the end nobody really gives a $hit where you spent the last several days. To me it is all about family. I guess I must have my priorities all messed up.

Whoa! Easy there chief. It is great that your priorities are in line. Great. It is just too bad that in addition to your great family, you have a job that bores you. I wish you could have both, a great family which you do have, and a job that excited you. Some people have both. Good luck to you.
