Offline Jumpseating.

OK ladies and gentlemen, listen up lest ye be denied the jumpseat when travelling offline.


Regardless of whether the gate agent gives you a boarding pass or not, you are not on the flight until the captain says yes. You must show your company ID, F/A certificate, and jumpseat form to the captain. There is a little jumpseat game played where you must ask if you can travel. The answer will always be yes, but you must ask anyway. At the end of the flight, thank the crew for the free ride. Failure to follow this procedure will most likely result in you being denied boarding.

Should we delay the boarding when we have boarded from door 2L to get up to the front of the airplane too?

The boarding will be delayed when the gate agent is called to take you off. Delay the boarding and get a ride or delay the boarding and stay in the airport, your choice. The jumpseat is a privilege that is at the captain's discretion. Pilots have been doing it for years without delaying flights, it's time you f/a's learned. I'm just trying to give you a way of learning that doesn't involve you missing work/your trip home.

Really? Well guess what? I did that today and the Captain laughed his a$$ off. He said, don't bother doing that and mess up the online departure.

I guess some pilots are more anal than others. (most also don't go grabbing the manifest to see if the SA's are jumpseating or pass riding). You see, the airline I usually jumpseat on gives you a seat assignment.

Now back to driving Mr Busdriver.

Any movement out there with the likes of AA and UAL to reciprocate with the B6 FA's so they don't have to incur the pass riding fee on B6 Nov 1st?
I for one hate to see this come to an end for our off line commuters and have said as such.
Time to put pressure on the brass when large #'s of FA's cant make it to MIA etc for UAL.

I don't see it happening anytime soon. United would love to have a revolving door of flight attendants who quit because they couldn't make their trips.

Besides, your fee is about the same amount that United charges us to passride anyway. It won't make a difference, we'll still be on JB but you probably won't see as many staying to clean.

WOW, some of the attitudes in this thread really surprise me. FA's need to understand that the captain is offering you a professional courtesy. The least you can do is ASK for it. It's not about being anal, it about respecting the captain. Some of your attitudes bring to light why it is that FA are not being given JS priviledges on some airlines. As the jumpseat chair for a large regional airline, I deal with the issues and problems that arrise on a day to day basis. I will tell you that except for gate agents, FA are the next biggest problem. The least you could do is show a little respect.
