Super, forget it. You're trying to reason with a very lonely man who lives in a fantasy world with a "family who loves him", "friends who enjoy him", and "coworkers who adore him". Strip all that away and you end up with a lonely pitiful man who comes here to inflate his ego so he doesn't have to face his utterly depressing life. You'll never win an argument here with a guy who would rather log onto FI than actually go outside and see what Rio, Vienna, or Rome has to offer.


Don't bother arguing. He's already figured you out. Obviously you applied, interviewed, and were hired at NWA because you weren't Delta material. Obviously you spend all your nights away from home in Minot and Fargo crying in your hotel bed about how you REALLY REALLY wish Delta had called you before Northwest. Certainly you didn't actually WANT to work for Northwest????? The General can't compute. The General can't understand that there are intelligent pilot types out there that want absolutely nothing to do with Delta Air Lines.

Oh... and General... I fly the -9. I don't mind reading enroute charts. I'm not afraid to ask for a shortcut and a heading for a VOR at the same time (more often than not, I get it when I ask). Yes, I spend my work nights in Flint, Birmingham, St. Louis, Minot, and Fargo. There isn't a whole hell of a lot to do in any of those places. I'm happy for you that your seat position allows you to accept routing direct to ASBAG intersection so that you can add a minute or two to your precious Rio/Vienna overnight.

However.... I also average 15-17 days off a month. I enjoy taking my wife and kids to one of your glorious working destinations three or four times a year, My kids have seen Prague, Rio, Buenos Aires, Dublin, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Bermuda, and Tokyo. My youngest child is 2, and he's seen more of the world than you have because my lifestyle of Minot and Fargo overnights allows him that opportunity.

And to stoop to a slightly cruder level (with my better half's permission), I've f********* my wife in more countries than you've j********* off in, mostly thanks to my 15-17 days a month off and my "miserable" existence flying the DC-9 around the continental US.

Enjoy your 20-30 hour worldly layovers, General. I would enjoy them too if I had nothing more than an empty house to come home to. I and the other countless hundreds of professional pilots who have something other than our fish tank and our TIVO to come home to understand why you have to flaunt the layovers your chosen right seat afford you.

Next time you're in Paris, Prague, or Vienna and you're eating lunch at that sidewalk cafe, take a close look at that family sitting next to you. That's me and my family, and we're sitting there courtesy of my DC-9 and my ability to read an enroute chart. Your 24 hour layover is just about up, General. Time to go home and check the pH in your fish tank, you lonely pitiful man.

No No No Punky....I'm obviously much more junior than that.....since I'll be swinging gear for a BA4100 Junkstream driver such as yourself given how fair and equitable your SLI was.;)

I'd love to sit here and throw insults with you all day detoilet, but I have a nwa pilot coming over to clean my pool. He does it to supplement his income. I have to be there to make sure he doesn't steal any lawn furniture!:D
