Hi all,

I didn't see it posted here, but the news is that NWA is recalling 175-200 pilots this year (for attrition), starting with 40 in April.

This is up from their previous plans of 10-20 per month.

Best,
Nu

The word is 40 a month.......not sure how long, no annual totals yet.

Great News

I predict that others (AA, UA, DL, CO) will follow sometime later this fall. I know CO has recalled a few and AA is still planning on 200+ in March, but, call me the enternal optomist. I really think guys are going to start getting the invitations to come back later this year/ early next year. And come 05' at an alarming rate!

As one of the 240 slated to go on Mar. 2, I can speak to this issue. Who the hell knows?:D

Manpower/Planning says the furlough will go ahead as planned and they won't furlough unless you are going to be out a year or more.

But, I don't believe this was a normal down cycle(duh!) and it may not be a normal recovery cycle. They say only 25-50 per month will be recalled so I will be out around 14-15 months.

All I know is that if SWA, AirTran, JB or ATA call, it will be tough to return to AA. I believe they need to get their management mentality out of the 70's(the 1870's, that is... ) and the pilots have to let go of that security blanket called the "Green Book". There are plenty of ways to make more money AND have a better quality of life(reference the above carriers).

IMO. What do I know, though.TC
