I remember reading somewhere that some of the airlines out there are going to shut down some domiciles(like AWA at CMH), and that NWA was looking at shutting down MEM, true, false, somewhere in between?? Just curious, could really screw up Fedex's Monday deadheads. Also, what aircrew are domiciled in MEM, A320's, DC-9's?? Thanks, and fly safe, Chip

I live in Memphis and the airport manager lives down the street. I asked him your question and he loughed.
I don't see NWA giving up MEM>

DC-9 aircrew are the only NW crews domiciled in MEM at the present time.

Just a little note to add to your original post. AWA has only one domicile in PHX. LAS, PHX & CMH are all hubs. Go figure a major airline with 3 hubs but only one domicile. No wonder 75% of our trips are 4 days. CMH will be closing soon and the RJs there are going to DAL.

This redeployment of RJs to DAL is going to be interesting ...

We'll see where the loads fall. Will the RJs fill up with people frustrated by the WA or will the traditional SWA passenger stick with SWA?

I'm not familiar enough with the demographics of the DAL paxs, but just in the last three years Legend failed, AA removed their modified F-100s and CALEX is all but gone from DAL.

Any thoughts?

I believe NW has an airbus base in MEM as well. Don't forget the Mesaba Abvro and saab as well as Pinnacle CRJ bases in MEM. After all, the Airlinkers are REALLY NW folks too. Especially with Anderson and his group with their hands so far up you know where at the puppet mgmt teams led by Spanjers and Trenary. We're like a NW Z scale really...

NWAirlink Pinnacle is going to pick-up some of the DC-9 flying. They started MEM - JAX and MEM - LIT this month and will go MEM - AUS next month.

I use Pinnacle sometimes to try to commute home out of memphis, and i saw that Southwest flies out of Lit, and Bna which i can use to get up to CT... but guess who flies DC-9's... I cant jumpseat on NW because we dont have a recip with them...
I was wondering, do they fill them up? I'm sure it would be a little more cost effective to run a 50ish seat rj for a 30 min flight. So that would be nice if they started service there.
