If that was played on the local news in MSP, that was very good. A flamming arrow just landed at headquarters.

Way to go - it's about dam time someone from the hometown had the cajones to say it like it is. God knows that piece of $H%^IT paper the Trib - uh I mean the Star and Sickle has done eveything in its power to bash labor and glorify management. at least 'CCO has Shelby on our side!

The problem is a senority based system that prevents pilots from being able to move between employers. Management knows that after a pilot has a few years senority that they don't have to worry about keeping him happy in order to retain him because if he leaves he will have to start over at the bottom somewhere else.

What's the answer? I wish I knew!

Maybe the braintrust at ALPA can come up with one.

Fantastic

That was awesome and should be sent to every airline managment in the world especially the US. IT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE SHOWN TO ALPO.

Damn straight....those management fuks need a kick in da nutz! Let them eat on food stamps for a while.

I just sent him an e-mail thanking him for his editorial, and I recommend everyone else do the same.

It all sounds good to us. But does anyone think the flying public really cares? They might agree with the content for the few seconds their mind is on the subject. But when it comes time for them to buy an airline ticket, you can bet they will have forgotten all about it.

Funny how they want to retain the team that got them into bankruptcy in the first place. Same thing happened at United and USAir too.

NWA arguably has the least amount of competition from LCC's amongst all of the majors. American, Continental, Alaska and America West managed to stay out of bankruptcy even with plenty of LCC competition.

Was there anymore to this story or was it just the short bit?

Cheers!

Here is a new low for scum sucking management............BEWARE!!!!!!

AIR SAFETY MESSAGE (2/14/06)
The MEC has received reports from several pilots that NWA's Chief
Financial Officer, Mr. Neil Cohen, has entered the cockpit and
engaged in discussions with the working pilots to promote his views
regarding the NWA bankruptcy and pilot concessions. Although these
events occurred on the ground at the gate, they were extremely
distracting to the crews and had real potential to adversely affect
the crews' performance during the ensuing flights.

As in the past, the MEC Air Safety Committee recommends that you
make every effort to keep discussions of NWA's current financial
problems and our current negotiations out of the cockpit. If any
cockpit visitor or jumpseater insists on discussing these issues or
if you believe their continued presence would adversely affect
safety, ALPA recommends that you have them leave the cockpit.
Failure to comply with a flight crew directive constitutes a
violation of Federal Aviation Regulations and should be immediately
reported.

Any pilot group anywhere has to be out of their minds if they take even a one cent paycut without capping total management compensation in the same agreement. Make it real simple: we take a pay cut, so do you. You get one thin dime more, whether it's direct pay, bonus, stock option, paid parking or membership at the local gym, and our pay snaps back...ALL the way. This garbage has to end sometime.
