NWA paintjob

I am just wondering what is up with NWA's new paintjob? In this time when airlines are losing record amonuts why repaint the fleet? I know that it is not free how much is it to repaint a 747.

Just wondering.

Plus the old paint job looks alot better. Just one mans perspective

The new paint job was supossed to cost less and last longer, they're repainting aircraft as they're recieved from the factory and as the normal paint schedule comes up

I saw a DC-9 with the new paint in ROC the other day. I've seen the abus in LGA with the new paint which looked good but the 9 looked way out of place. Just my 2 cents but I think they should leave all the 9's in the old paint. Still can't understand why the put nwa on the side of the aircraft and depending on which way you look at the tail it looks like the triangle is pointing NE due to its location. O well bet its better than the "dot head" who decided to paint our planes dark blue.

Every time I see one of these new Northwest paint jobs I'm reminded that there was (or still is) a Rap Group that used the same initials, "NWA". These initials stood for "///Censored/// With Attitude."

I imagine that this is what their world-tour chartered jet would look like, and when they taxi up next to you at the hold short line you would hear these gigantic sub-woofers boom-booming away inside the jet.

I was told by a nwa guy that the last time the company hit financial hardships they neglected their planes and they got pretty ugly. And pax loads started to fall as a result?
This time they spent most of the last of their cash on hand to improve their image.

I think the new NWA paint is pretty slick! You are right about passenger's perceptions about "new and improved" packaging. Companies do that sort of thing and hey, if it works then it pays off in the long term. Consumers are just funny like that (with the exception of the new "Coke" that came out in the mid 1980s... didn't take long for that one to "fizzle out" then they came up with "Coca Cola Classic"). Had some pax come on board the other day and they were commenting on how nice it was to be on one the newest Southwest "planes." Truth is, it was a -300 with the new paint and interior upgrade! Oh well, the two pax sure did have a warm fuzzy about it. (BTW, ever notice pax always say "plane" A plane is a smoothing tool for woodworking... different from an "airplane." Okay I'm rambling.)
