(AP) NEW YORK The judge overseeing Northwest Airlines Corp.'s bankruptcy case granted another extension on Friday of a deadline for a pay-cut deal between the carrier and its pilots and flight attendants.

Judge Allan Gropper had given the unions and the airline until Friday to make a deal. The new deadline is Wednesday, said Professional Flight Attendants spokesman Peter Fiske.

Both sides reported progress but talks had not wrapped up when they met with Gropper on Friday. He is considering whether to allow Northwest to reject its union contracts with the two unions.

Pilot voting on whether to authorize a strike wraps up on Tuesday. Per WCCO MSP

Thats great news...

The chances of a strike are becoming smaller, and the likelihood of everyone hitting the streets is lower.

But at what Pay$, and what kind of benifits will be the question. I would guess similar to what the USAir J4J system was like. It might be a smaller airplane, but in the same paintjob, to the same points of intrests.

Hurry Up And Wait !

Oh Boy...... another extention !!!!!

This is like spending time at my wife's relative's house........ every day is a frickin' eternity.

The Judge should have locked 'em in a room until an agreement is reached.

I personally would prefer to see them all locked in the Thunderdome to let them work out their differences. Two groups enter, one group leaves. The carnage would be incredible.

320,

Even though I'll probably lose my house if it happens, it's time to burn it down. Not another 25%, 15%, 5%, not scope. NO MORE!

I don't want to see another 5,000 pilots (including my decidedly better half) or 10,000 flight attendants on the street but Steenland and Wilson MUST BE STOPPED.

I know the Red Book dominated MEC is going to cave and there won't be a strike but what's the point of 16-18 days away from home, 6 legs a day, 85 hours a month for $50,000 a year, no pension, and no benefits after NINE YEARS at a major? BURN IT DOWN!

Doood-

I feel your pain. I re-fi'd my "F/O" house to cut the payments in half.

I think we're done with pay..... the stuff they're fightin' over is work-rule related. McClain said we're "close" in principle...... it's the VALUATIONS that have everything bogged down. To us distant learning is worth $100 million..... to Mgmt its worth $10 million, etc.....

Osama Bin Steenland & Wilson will be gone before we get exit financing.

Hang in there...... it's only 5 more days. Maybe the Employee Jihad will come to an end !!!!

If we flow down to a 70 seater, do we still keep our mainline number? Is the flowthorugh program going to be instated? How will they staff the new airline, from the top down, who would go there as a new hire? You would never upgrade to captain and the most junior pilots will be furloughed every 6 months. Oh wait................

Haha just got word the FO rate that is being negotiated at newco will be around $10,500 a year, much lower than the concessionary contract at XJ. I think the RJDC just found itself 900 more members. Duane Worthless.

At this point in the process its not ALPA, it's the NWA pilots that are doing the talking with the company, (& the ones voting for it); that are going to sell out the Jr. pilot.

I really hope this is a joke! If not I say burn the place to the ground! The sad part is there are tons of guys/gals waiting in line for this job at $10.5k. What a JOKE!!

Baja.

I'm beginning to think you don't even work for NWA. If you do, have you even bothered calling your reps? What council are you a member of? Did you go to the rally the other night to get the real facts about the negotiations and the SJ deal? There's so much wrong with your post that I can't imagine that you even have a slight affiliation with NWA. If you do, then get informed and stop spreading this misinformation.

What is the deal then, since you know i'm wrong?

The deal is YPF and PNCL-128 will be forced to spend the rest of their life's posting on Flight Info.

You referred to Newco in your post, and Newco is long gone at this point. Somewhere in the 70-seat range a dividing line will be created that seperates Small Small Jets from Large Small Jets (SSJs and LSJs). This line will likely be 76 seats, but it hasn't been nailed down yet as of 2 days ago. The SSJs will be able to be outsourced. Enough to replace the Avros and about 50 more. Any additional SSJs will be linked to a ratio with LSJs. The ratio hasn't been finalized yet. The LSJs will be flown by mainline pilots on the mainline certificate under the mainline contract. No Newco. Some sort of Jets-for-Jobs program will be created to allow furloughed NWA pilots the ability to fly the new SSJs at whatever company they end up going to. This would of course have to be approved by whatever pilot group ends up getting them. It would be likely that some sort of flowthrough would be created in order to "sell" the J4J program to the other pilot group. The payrates for the SSJs would of course be whatever the contract says at the airline that gets them. The payrates for the LSJs will likely be similar to JetBlue 190 payrates.

This information comes straight from Captain Ray Miller, Chairman for Council 20 in DTW. It was all openly discussed at the rally two days ago.

You still didn't answer my questions, though. You always come on here saying that you have "inside information," but you are usually wrong. Do you ever call your reps, attend meetings, or read the ALPA publications distributed by your MEC and NC? It would seem that most of your posts are the products of rumor, not real "inside information." Try talking to your reps for the real story instead of believing crew room gossip.
