Didn't this happen a few years ago and the pax sued NWA and won a decent sized settlement? Plane pushed back in a snow storm, pax were stuck on the ground for 8 hrs .. ran outta food, water, toilets overflowed, etc?

One man with an infant punched a wall, then ran up an aisle and "charged the cockpit with his baby," passenger Barry Wallis said
If this is true(I dont rely on pax accounts)...this guy should known better not to charge a cockpit of an airliner(even with a kid in his arms)...if was a crew member i would have had him arrested.

This is what happens when people follow rules with blind adherance and can't possibly begin to look for common sense fixes. They should've arranged for customs, or arranged to fly to another nearby airport with customs (PDX?), or got the terminal secured and let the passengers in MUCH earlier. The passengers deserve better than this, it's a US Air type example of "I'm going to screw management by treating the passengers bad because I've been treated poorly".

It has been NWA "brand" policy to do what is the cheapest at the time being, not what makes the most sense. Why should NWA go out of their way to accomodate pax? They got those pax $400 for the roundtrip around the world. NWA counts that as a win even if those pax buy tickets on other airlines for the rest of their lives.

As an ex NWA exec once told me, the passengers can scream customer service, safety, schedule integrity all they want, but when it comes down to nut cutting time, all they really want is to go SYR-MCO roundtrip for $29.99.

They did secure a terminal and allowed the passengers to wait inside. It just took some time to do as the airport wasn't nearly staffed to handle such a large airplane or large number of passengers.
