Petition's are out and about. I was talking to a Captain last night who had one. He was working on getting more signatures before sending it in. Consensus was that the negotiating chair is 0-2 at the table and the President's second chance was when we voted him in for a second term. He campaigned on the premise that his opponent was "too close to management" and that he would be the better President to stand up to management and get the contract the pilot group deserved.

It was becoming evident that AP was out of touch with the pilot group when he negotiated and put forth a concessionary contract. . . . . and refused to accept that it was a bad, bad deal.

I think what actually triggered the recall itself was when he made the dunderheaded decision to return to the table to try to "fix" this thing so it would pass.

We don't want anything to do with this TA, nor anyone who had any part in it.

I couldn't agree more.

The Negotiating committee is an appointed position. You cannot recall an appointed position by petition. You can recall the President. You can have the existing BOD vote to dismiss the current Negotiating Committee. You could also have the current President replace the Negotiating Committee, but you simply cannot remove the committee by petition.

That's correct.

Not to mention none of this is going to get done before the next mediation starting on the 10th is completed.

Hard road... hope the NC got the point and takes a few more people to D.C. with them to "explain" it to Tossi and the Company that unless they really FIX the issue, there's no way to get enough votes to pass it.

If not, we'll be voting it down and settling in for another year or more of mediated talks after we lose the Midwest initiative to have a completed contract before airTran pitches their purchase deal to the MEH BoD.

Sucks either way, unless the company simply caves, and I don't see that happening... :(
