I am just sitting here reading the back and forth bantering between PFT'ers and Pros, getting sick. BTW, I am on the Pro's side as I am "working" my way up.

So I thought I would share this interesting fact I came across today as I pondered the future.

I just eclipsed 1,000 hours since I've been flying the bush up here in Alaska. The mind boggling stat is that in those 1,000 hours I have logged 4,917 landings. Good God man, that's insane. And I would say that about 1,500 of those were of the butt clinched category.

Like I said in the thread title, nothing really important, but "Holy Crap", I am surprised I have been this lucky so far.

Cheers

The rest of the story

That Merlin landing would come under the category of "Butt Clinching".

And I'm almost certain rchcfi was *not* the pilot.

So anyway, I'm also sitting around doing a little thinking about jaded souls who never realized their dreams and the dreamers on the outside looking in....

...and it occurs to me: It's no wonder everyone hates pilots (management, ground crew, maintenance, dispatchers...). What attitude and back slapping and self-congratulatory masturbation occurs when some curious outsider looks up our skirt.

How dare the flawed career changer attempt to join our elite rank. "I couldn't manage it, surely you're wasting your time, go away and let us brood over more important matters like which RON offers the best BBQ."

Clowns, all.

We have become caricatures of ourselves.

Before I get flamed: It is in no way intended this pilot made a mistake. It is only a picture showing what we expereince up here on a day in/day out basis.

I mean, just the other day I had a -30 windshear that stalled my left wing in the flare. Luckily it was immediately followed with a +20 which kept me from groundlooping.

"Speed is life" up here.
