Key Lime Air is now PFT also? I am so sick of these First Officer Training Program. They want $17000 to fly right seat in a Metro! It is no wonder there are so many pilots looking for jobs right now. Unless you've got a big fat wallet, you are screwed.

What's next? - Due to the lack of cooperation of the unions to take adequate concessions, American Airlines has initiated their new Jet First Officer Training program. "Applicants" will be charged $35,000 for 250 hours in the Boring 737. This new program will allow American Airlines to avoid bankruptcy and provide excellent experience to future Jet Captains. "This is a win - win situtation for all parties involved" says an unkown American Airlines representitive.

SHHHHHH Don't give them any ideas! :p

ive checked into this sort of thing.

numerous places forbit anyone working there unless they buy their time in the FO seat upfront. even if they get paid while there. I checked the sources, and even if this is unequal hiring practices and financial discrimination, there has yet to be any lawsuits or any action taken against such practices....YET....

we're most likely going to have to suck it up.

Key lime only does this in the single pilot qualified planes like the metro's. The 2 pilot certified learjet is flown by 2 paid pilots. No PFT there

They might not be charging their FO's to pay for the seat but I do know of a company that does. American Air Networks (This is the 135 name for the company) based in St Louis gets pilots (Most of them foreign) to pay for the right seat of a lear for that "jet experiance" that is so important. They arrange for a student visa and explain that it is training even though they are used on revenue producing flights.

Part 135 charter operation, operating from several bases in the US, throughout the US,Canada,Mexico and Latin Amerika. Currently operating 40 jet aircraft with on-demand charters, As training on our fleet may start from March 17th again (aircraft above 12.500 pounds) we have several openings for First Officers. Pilots have to PAY for training. Low time pilots will have the most benefit of getting their career going by obtaining jet experience in a FAR/JAR25 multi crew jet aircraft. Conversion, if necessary, from foreignin US licenses is optional. Pilots can fly with the company till they have a job or meet the qualifications for an upgrade to captain. Only applications through our weibsite on the page contact will be accepted. Training will start in April/May.

This is the ultimate in PFT.
I know this place from first hand experience. No, I did not pay for any traing but I was pushed out of the way by those that did. It made me work harder for what I got and I feel good about the path I took to the level I am at now. I constantly get pilots asking if they can fly with me and of course the "price is right".
I get paid for any flying I do and anyone that flies with me is going to get paid too.
How much is an hour in an airplane worth compared to your dignity and self esteem? How can you know if you are a good pilot if you have to pay the messenger?

Cappy
You fly - you get paid. Bottom line

Key Lime has been PFT for at least 2-3 years now. I believe they also have PFT in their Navajos too. It makes me sick I tells ya!

Crap!!

All the good messages we had on the PFT issue are gone!! THat stinks... We really did have something going here.

Well, I am sure it won't be long before we have them here again. This PFT thing will never go away. It just ticks me off.

Too bad I do not come from a rich family. At this rate, I will never have enough money to purchase my first airline job.

Buy an airline job?

What are you talking about? Maybe I should call my dad and buy an AIRLINE. then no more worries about PFT :D

Sorry, I thought you would hear the sarcasm of my post. This crap makes me sick. I would never pay for a flying job.
