Sarcasm??

Dude, I share your opinion on that question, I used the same sarcasm in mine!!

Before the furum crashed we had a good discussion going. I wrote that we could check with the department of labor for instance. Someone else wrote some good arguments, but I can't remember his name.

Skyking,

Not to be too picky here, but Key Lime's PFT program just started 2-3 MONTHS ago, not years. And, if the distinction matters, which I think it should, as someone said in an earlier post they only sell the seats that are already empty anyway. These people who pay are NOT required crew members. KL used to actually pay a miniscule sum to the guys who flew in the right seat of their Navajos - actually they got paid to work the ramp loading airplanes and then got to go fly for free. Then if those same guys wanted to upgrade they could pay the equivelant of a little over an hours' flying time in a Metro to cover their checkride costs in that airplane, then they could go along on Metro trips as well.

I don't like the concept either, believe me, but at least they are not selling the seat of a REQUIRED crewmember. Again, except for their Lear, everything they have goes out single-pilot unless someone wants it bad enough to pay for it. And when you look at it, the per-hour cost for Metro SIC time through them is substantially less than what one would pay for a rented piston twin. Of course, you are only getting SIC time versus PIC time, but is in all weather, day or night.

Now , the legal ins and outs of logging SIC time when you are NOT a required crewmember is another can of worms altogether.

Buck, your signature line is absolutely hilarious, thanks!

Sorry guys, just wanted to keep us headed down the right path here...

sorry i have to drop in with the unpopular viewpoint on this one. You cant blame Key Lime management or any other company for selling out the right seat. If the flights are done as a feeder for a larger operator, there is probably a bidding process for these runs and as we all know airlines only make money by keeping costs as low as possible.
Am I management or do I work for one of these companies. No!! But I think blame should be placed to the scum pilots who pay to play.
