Hi everyone,

I am considering getting my apps online with Southwest and Jet Blue. Also might consider AirTran. Here is my experience level. 7000 plus TT. 1653 PIC Saab. 9 years with a large regional. Working on finishing my B.S. Which airline would I have a chance at if any for a future interview?

Does not look like I am really competitive. I could get a type in the 737 during the next few months and also have the seniority to hold an Emb-145 captain slot now with my company. I have a few friends that have paid for the 737 type and have not even been called for an interview with Southwest.

It also sounds like Jet Blue is looking for jet time and more PIC. Would the EMB-145 type help to get an interview?? What about a Blue Dart??? I have seen discussion on the board about that. Does one really get an interview if he receives one??

Thanks everybody for your input!!!!

Good luck to all in 2004

You're plenty competitive. Get your stuff in and keep flying. Keep working on that degree while you're at it. Each day that you sell yourself short is another day short of your goal.

Good luck.

Juan

I'm thinking your assumption of competitiveness may be based on friends that have not been called for an interview. Keep in mind the HIGHLY competitive time it has been for a SW interview lately. That may change. You may also be able to do little things to make yourself more competitive. You never know when your app will get the second look.

In other words, keep plugging because you don't know when the landscape may change or what action on your part may separate you from the pack.

Don't know if the 737 type or EMB 145 Captain would help.

Now is the time!!

Apply to both!! ASAP!!!

SWA hasn't been calling anyone for the past one and half years or so, know matter how competitive they think they are. Nobody knows who is going to be called first during this next interviewing boom. You may be the exact person they are looking for! Now is the time to get it in, things are about to happen fast!!

Hey Saab,

First, I agree with the others that you are easily competitive so get those applications in to both airlines. Would the jet PIC time help? Sure, but so does the view to an interviewer that you are progressing upward within your airline, a definite plus. As far as the "Blue Dart", yes it exists, and yes, if a JetBlue pilot gives you his dart (and you meet the minimum qualifications as outlined on the website), you get the next interview guaranteed (no job guarantee, just the interview).

Get those apps in now, and best of luck to ya!

Thanks guys for the thoughts!

Thanks guys :) Southwest is finished and Jet Blue is next. I thought I saw a post that someone said it might help to update the Southwest online app often (such as weekly to update flight time). Anyone heard different? And what about Jet Blue updates? Anyone know if it makes any difference?

Any Jet Blue pilots want to mentor... I am a good pilot and a great guy!! Really!!! ------>Hehehe <The Saab Captain dreams of a blue dart just like the other 8000 highly qualified pilots>

Heck, I even thought about driving over to LGB and saying hello to some of you lucky Jet Blue guys.

Thanks again guys,

Best Wishes All
