OPEC is completely in the right on this one. Non rev or jumpseat: pay your respect. No other way. If someone is good enough to give me a free ride and the FA gives me top notch service, which always happens, then go into the cockpit and shake some hands. And keep the politics out of the plane. I work at GIA and I get a lot of sh!t for it, Mesa guys get a lot of poop for who they are too. Everyone seems to hate everyone for some stupid reason. If you come on my plane, keep that crap out of the cabin.

I am always willing to give anyone a free ride anywhere they need to go. Just be cool.

By the way, there was this CHQ crew that did something really nice for us in Nassau a few weeks ago. I have no idea who it was but the CA and the FA saw we were flying the 1900 and it was f-in hot outside. They brought us some cold water and food from the plane out of the goodness of their hearts. I thanked them but something better should be done for them. If anyone knows who they are let me know via pm. Thanks.

Does CHQ have a Professional Standards Committee? If so and if all this is true I think that they'd like to hear about it.

As an aside, while anyone would be justified taking umbrage at behavior such as this, there are better methods to address it than to shout it out in public and thereby painting all with the same brush.

Good point Axel. I'm certainly not trying to pin this on any other CHQ crewmember. EVERYONE else that I've come in comtact with at CHQ has been nothing but a total 180 for this guy.

Every time you use your pass card you visit the cockpit? If you're jumpseating absolutely, but while using your pass card? Should every joe schmuck using their pass card pay a visit to the cockpit, or just pass card using pilots?

In three years of flying out of LGA,NOT ONE ALG pilot has ever said anything to us up front.Ever.Not thanks,you tend to suchle,nothing.So much for that.A friend of mine at ASA called me last week and said an ALG crew told him our paychecks bounced ! Hah ! I remember when I was PDT,my payroll check said "Debtor In Possession" right on it.

Agreed. I don't mind the passing "thanks Y'All" like many of the passengers do. A "non-rev" does not need to come up front to say anything IMHO.

Heck, I really don't mind if a Jumpseater cuts and runs after the flight, as long as their pre-flight etiquette is good. Go my Son... Make that connection.

Who said this has anything to do with my ego. I treat all crews with an extreme amount of respect for a free ride. Nobody has to kiss anyone's a$$. Just say thanks. Too many people on this board have to turn posts around so they can talk sh!t. Shut up and have some respect for your fellow pilots. All pilots.

I've never understood the logistics of waiting until the last passenger gets off while jumpseating. That being said, I always try to be the last person on (well, within reason, I'm not going to show up 2 minutes before push and be all like, "surprise").

If I'm stuck in a middle seat right ahead of the wing, what am I supposed to do? Get out, let the window seat person out, then get back in? I think I'd just rather take the opportunity to get off and get out of everybody's hair.

I always thank the crew, though. But I'd say a good half of the time, they either don't remember who I am, or the "thank you, have a good day" reflex is so strong that they don't care. I'm always thankful and appreciative of the ride, though.

Just my experience, though.
