Everybody is different I guess. I'd rather be on the ground (or water) ANYWHERE than burn alive.

I absolutely agree. I'll happily work out the political ramifications after I'm safely on the ground.

There's nothing better than the smell of smoke in the cockpit.

It's always best if it's coming from outside the aircraft, however. Smell of smoke in other parts of the aircraft is of no particular benifit.

Far better to be on the ground and not need to be, than not be on the ground and have the need.

I don't know...I think I agree with LrjCaptain. I think I would have blew the bottles, had the flight attendant sniffing for smoke, and heading for Turkey...or any place other than Iran.

Thank God it all worked out.
