Chill out Francis!

Honestly, the simple answer is; continue the climb as you are turning the crosswind (around 300', as others have suggested).

I was just being a wisea$$!

Touch and go traffic is climbing on the upwind to crosswind turn and someone joins the pattern midfield on a 45 for a full stop landing, how is that being a d-bag or cutting them off? It's merging into the pattern.

that was not the scenario being described.

sounded to me like the situation was someone taking off behind you and turning inside of you on the x-wind.

That said, everyone knows what an annoyance it is to be doing touch-and-gos in the pattern behind someone who makes extremely long downwind or upwind legs.

As a former instructor, I couldn't agree more. it has happened to me numerous times on 95 degree days. however, i would still never cut in front of someone wo is ahead of me in the pattern. if it's really bad you could just give the guy a call on the radio and ask if you could jump ahead. unfotunately, there are a lot of people out there just do whatever the hell they want. usually they are the guys who fly once a month and think they know it all.

FN FAL, I think you misread the original post. The original author is not talking about someone coming in on the 45 and "cutting him off."....
oh...ok. In that case, why not try to work out a deal on the radio? Anyone who leaves enough space behind them in the pattern for other people to actually have another traffic pattern contained inside of it, should expect to be asked to give a little courtesy...and give it.

If you know how to articulate well on the radio, you should be able to make a deal with another pilot at a non-towered airport.

I find that pattern nazi's are dangeous people...especially the ones that are trying to prove a point.
