Need suggestions on sources for factory prescription sunglasses. The only high quality glasses I've been able to find are the Maui Jim's, which are available with just the polarized lenses.
I bought my serenghetti's from a dealer like Sunglass Hut and then took them to my optometrist. I had them cut and place the lenses for me. I still have them 2 years later. I would reccomend that you have the Ani-glare placed on the back of the lenses. The lenses can actually be ordered in glass and/or plastic and both can have Anti-glare applied to them contrary to what some optometrists say.
Non-Polarized lenses are easily obtained from these stores if you want them. Just make sure to ask for them. I have just recently had a second pair ordered and have had no problems obtaining them.
Maui Jim can also place lenses for you in their glasses but you will have to provide them your prescription details. I have found it easier to buy the glasses and then have the lenses changed locally.
I have a pair of Ocean Waves, they came with polorized lenses, my optometrist sent them off to Ocean Waves and had them changed out with my perscription and plastic non-polorized lenses.
I'm in the market for new shades myself. No prescription needed but what should I look for? Are polarized lenses no good in a jet cockpit? I know the windshield is probably already polarized.
I have a pair of Carrera's that are prescription and I am very pleased with them. No distortion at all and they wrap just enough to keep glare out from the sides. Also, just dark enough to complete a full inspection of the checkout clerk or whomever else's boobs you'd care to get a closer look at.
For those asking, polarized lenses are no good in airplanes that have polarized windscreens (which is most of them). Two polarized surfaces together have a tendency to black out the viewing surface.
Oakley A wire....great pair of sunglasses for perscription.
I have these in perscription. Good lookin pair of glasses. My brother is an air force pilot, and he wears them too. They are far from the 'ice man' glasses of old.
