I'm starting class on the E170 in a few weeks and was wondering how loud is was on the flight deck. Do I need to be prepared to wear my N.R David Clarks or look into come smaller "jet" headsets?

Wind or Engine Noise?

All wind...no need for DCs in this bird. It's not like the 135-145 series with the shrieking wind noise.

The cockpit is equiped for both ANR and standard headphone jacks. No need for battery powered headsets

I would definitely ditch the David Clarks. The active NR is mostly effective at lower frequency ranges anyway.

Already got the E170 listed in aircraft flown ehh?

I dont think you understood, the 170 comes with the noise cancelling headsets in them. You do not need to purchase any headset.

Depending on your company they may, or may not, leave them in there for crews to use. Besides, about the last thing that I would ever do in an airplane is use a communal headset. Thats just nasty.

i put a swim cap on first..

Shuttle America took all the David Clarks out of the SAAB's when they first got them. They don't even provide them to Fed's jumpseating. I doubt they'd leave them in there for pilots to use. So keep looking you'll have to buy one.

The lice dig the minty-fresh flavor. And the bath.

I prefer to use my own headsets too. I wore my own at the preious 121 job.
Although, I do carry wipes as well, To clean off the control surfaces.

Wow!! That must take forever, cleaning all those great big control surfaces of the 170 with those little bitty wipes. And how do you get way up to the top of the tail? :D Sorry, couldn't resist.

That's cool. I guess I walked into that one. The good thing about it is, I was cleaning the controls of a JS32.
