After seeing NWA, Delta and USAIR 2nd Qt reports it is clear to see that there are really no big problems in the industry. Looks like the other airlines that are having problems just need to adopt difference accounting methods.

You are looking at 2nd quarter data, historically one of the most profitable. When 4th quarter data comes out we will have a better understanding of where every airline is financially. That said, if oil continues to drop and if we see the airlines continue their fuel surcharges, we very well might see a great 4th quarter at all the airlines.

On oil, kinda interesting that the biggest slide in the price of oil in 4+ years happens just as a vote to limit oil speculation is set to take place.... makes you wonder.

You also have to remember that they have been throwing a bunch of losses into the accounting for last year and so the mark is easier to attain now.

There's no problems, the weaker carriers are right on track to go out of business! Rhapsody in Boo-Hoo!
