sometimes society just makes me mad. There isn't a single person who has not been affected by the airplane. NOT ONE! Yet nobody seems to realize this and they still hate airports and the noise or think that flying is hazardous to your health. No one respects it enough to even put a 2 hour special on a non-cable channel hosted by a big name person. The airplane revolutionized THE WORLD!! It was created right here in the U.S. of A. and nobody cares. People just take aircraft for granted.
Maybe if no airplanes, not one, flew for a few weeks people would finally see just how interrupted their lives would be. From packages not getting delivered on time (how many weeks would it take to sail packages across the ocean?), to mail, to checks being late. Let's see, what else is effected by aviation...humanitarian airlifts, Hawaii would be isolated, Alaska would shut-down...the list goes on. And yet, people don't care. They take it for granted and think that we as pilots are overpaid for our "easy" job and the minimal services we provide. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Nice call, Flying Illini. I agree 100% with you.

CBC is doing a special on Wednesday night. It's Canada's national news channel (used to be hosted by peter jennings), so only a couple nearby states will get it.
