I don't know if they applied with the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale or not, but if they did, the crew of N509QS established a new class C-1L Group 3 Turbojet record for their flight from Washington, Dulles to Maui Hawaii last night with an average speed of 855 kph or 462 Knots.

Do we know if it is a G550 or not? Wow - that's a long late-night flight... Do those aircraft have a separate crew bed or rest quarters? Regardless, I'm sure they're happy to be in Maui right now.

I'll let a NetJets pilot respond to the NJI specific questions, but they did the 4,132 nm flight in 08:57. That's a chip shot for a GV.

Don't know about the crew rest, but diagrams for G550s on Netjet's website show a cabin configuration with a crew rest.

Flying a transcon is bad enough. I cant imagine after getting to So Cal, then having another 4 hours to go. But at least the plane is somewhat comfortable.

That is just normal everyday stuff. I am sure no one applied for anything.

With the winds last night your Gulfstream would have had to average just over M 0.87 to make it from Dulles to Maui in eight hours and fifty-seven minutes. You guys normally fly around at M 0.87?

Normally .85 but the winds were just lighter I am guessing. Maybe they were in a hurry for a short night who knows. But anyway good for them, I will ask them we gave them that airframe.

I did Dulles to Maui last summer, and it was just under 10 hours (felt like 48 with the guy I was with :bawling: ). They must have been booking!

Anything under 10 hours is like a drive through the neighborhood. At 14.5 is when I start yearning for the ground!

whats the average stage length of the iv?

4 to 6hrs? plllleaaase.

Having flown many a trans-con, and just running the numbers in my mind, you are correct. They had to be hauling ass. They had to hit the coast at somewhere around 4:30 in the flight, that is moving. Any time you can cross the country in less the 5hrs is good time.

The jet stream must have been way north.

I'm guessing one of maybe three guys for that one. No wonder you headed north;) .

I checked the wind right after GVFlyer made his post. N509QS had an average 40 knot headwind so he had to be truing out at around 500 knots!

Yo Wolfpack. I see from your margin data that you've moved to Bradley. Interogative:

KBDL

a.) Stevie G

b.) Bombardier

c.) United Technologies

d.) None of the above

Congratulations on your new position.

He must be flying. I'll answer for him: d.

Wolfie is "temporarily" assigned to the NJI Bradley Beach Club.

Sorry Boys, I was drinking beer with my neighbor!

I am on "loan" to the fine folks at BDL. They have to keep 2 planes on that certificate, and the King Air is gone. So they added another V (and the pilots with it).

Its all still up in the air on any long term plans. So for now, Billy puts the gear up and gets a bananna, he puts the gear down and gets 2 banannas. Then I go into the FBO and sling Poo:laugh: .

There's some good guys at Bradley and with the Spring in full swing those crystal clear streams and lakes up there are brimming with hungry fish.

They don't have any GIV's up there. Huh? Don't suppose you might be trying to work a deal. ;) Things might get Bonko up there (Inside Joke)
