Hey NJA guys, just curious, I know a lot of older pilots, including retired airline etc..., have made their way to NJA and I'm just wondering what their view is on the issues. Since they look at the job differently than us young guys, are they still supportive?

Still wishing you guys the best of luck,

If anything they are the most militant group of the pilots . They have been there and done that. They know what works and what doesn't. They know there is more to just flying a jet.

I think in the future they will hire less airline guys just because they really know how the system works. I look forward to flying with the ex airline guys. They have some great stories and can give some real insight into what we are doing now.

Diesel hit it right on the head. They are among our most ardent supporters.

It was a catch 22 for the company. They poached these retired airline guys back when they were having trouble attracting folks and they were losing 15 a month to the majors.

These were the first people that I flew with that really started questioning the old regime. I'd say for most of us this was our first union and thought this is how the game worked.

Thank you retired airline for showing us the error of our ways! :)

From what I've seen, I'd be hesitant to follow any gameplan from the airlines.....union or management.

Family Guy the only thing you are following is the company lies. Your being led around like a monkey on a rope.

I would say most 121 guys are definately militant regarding Unions and being pro union...The fact is that we have one individual that has donated over $10K out of pocket seed money to get our current local and MEC up and running...

Many of these guys are losing their retirements and understand that this job may have been a hobby originally they now see it as a potentially huge income....

On a side note the one retired 121 guy I know who was a strike line crosser hates Unions....However his previous actions didn't help Eastern now did it?

Therein lies the problem. Everyone should realize that you will never get rich working for someone else. The only way to make real money in this country is to start your own business and work for yourself. You wont get rich working for the man, you have to be the man....

While I have a great deal of sympathy for what's happening to the employees in the airline sector (if you want to talk about people getting screwed, look there....our concerns are just petty bickering in comparison) anyone that is coming over here because they see it as potentially huge income is simply deluding themselves.

I sincerely hope that these individuals arent in charge of the union and holding everything up hoping for that big payday....

Familyguy, you constantly try to discredit the Union and our Leadership. You just don't get it! We elected them by 89% to represent the pilots. They are only doing what we as a group asked them to do. The only agenda they have is to represent the pilots in the best way they can. They are transparent and in-touch with the membership (unlike the last crew). I gladly support and stand next to them in these negoitiations. Everything you repeat is company propaganda that has been posted on company media. Try thinking for yourself and stop being a simple mindless messenger. Your agenda is clear, and people see through you. I'm glad you don't work at CMH, the real staff has much higher character than you will ever have. Keep posting though, you are like Howard Dean, "the gift that keeps on giving"
