Sounds like one huge step backwards at NJA (seems way too restrictive to me).... Vote it down and show Mgmt. you have ball$!!!!!!! And kick the Teamsters to the curb while you're at it (those slimeball jacka$$es are out of touch big time)...

Frac Daddy:

I personally think we would have better pay if not working conditions right now if we were non-union. But we are union and are going to have to fight for every little thing. Not the answer you expected?

FracCapt:

Good question. There are current gateways that don't fit the TA criteria. There is language that says the company has the right to select airports as gateways even though they don't meet the criteria. I think it is assumed that all current gateways will remain, but there is no garauntee.

If a current pilot does not live near a gateway they will need to commute to one on their own time. Supposedly the TA will allow approx 100 gateways. Eventually there would be a list of airports that have been found to meet the criteria. We don't have the list yet.

MotoX:

Yep, no doubt.

You have an options if you don't think the TA is good.

Vote it down and set a strike date. Be prepared to walk the picket line for a few weeks. ( save some money)

I am sure management will sweeten the pot if they knew that 2000 pilots will walk out Thanksgiving weekend and disrupt the vacation plans of the rich and famous.

I think that would be hilarious!! Get to pbi yo' dang self!!

Jetwash - You obviously have never heard of the National Railway Labor Act. If it was that easy to vote NO and shut it down, you can bet your ass, it would be done by now. The NRLA benefits management, and even though I'm a Republican, it's somewhat true that as long as 2 out of 3 members of the NMB are democrats, the liklihood of us being released to self-help are pretty slim. There are other ways though, and don't think we won't use them.

WillieG,

The Railway Labor Act normally applies to scheduled air carriers (an outgrowth of the Railroad system carrying mail), but does it apply to the fractionals? Please say it isn't so.

If it's not under the RLA, then you're about as free to strike as the UAW every 18 months!

stlflyguy:

You've hit a nail on the head!

Coming from a 121 background, why the NRLA applies to fractionals is beyond me...does anyone know if it has ever applied to a 135 carrier? Is it just because NJA is a unionized work force? City bus drivers, who have a must greater influence on a potential "tranportation hardship," are free to engage in self-help when the the time comes...

Release, even if by suit, should be the first action pursued by the new MEC.
