I was wondering how often you guys and gals at NJA are being airlined around. Once a week, twice, more? Just started looking at NJA and was hoping to get a feel for the life style. Thanks for the help.

a lot... I am based out of TEB and they usually airline me out of lga, ewr, or jfk to get someplace at the beginning of the tour.. Then airline me back at the end.. Sometimes an airline in the middle..

you spend a ton of time airlining. Usually the whole first day and the whole last day depending on where you are based. and usually throw one in the middle. Love delta platinum

I'd agree with the responses above and re-iterate that it will depend somewhat on where you are based/domiciled/call it what you will. Sometimes I begin and end tours by ferrying planes. But there are also tours where I begin and end with airlining. And as Diesel said, I've also had several mid-tour airlines.

So, in the end, the amount of airlining on a tour ranges from zero to "a lot". Your mileage may vary.

Same experience here except I airline a bit less I think because GSO is so close to CLT. There's a Cessna Service Center at GSO and sometimes I take a rental car to or from GSO. But I have had totally screwed up tours where I got 7000 FF miles in 7 days. I airlined more legs than I flew.

So, if you are based at TEB, but they decide to airline you out of LGA, JFK or EWR, how do you get from one airport to the other?

Thanks for the postings. I currently live in CMH, so if I get an offer, I hope to be based here. I'm just starting to get my ducks in a row, so it'll be a bit before anything transpires. Thanks again.

cmh is a different animal.

Expect to pick up a plane in cmh at 0300 and drop one off at 2354.

I'm based in CMH and Diesel honestly isn't very far off from the truth. There are a number of tours that begin and/or end with a ferry flight from/to CMH. And I do find that I'm rarely back in CMH before 2000 local, whether it's from an airline or a ferry leg. That gets to be very irksome when people at other domiciles or HBA's talk about usually being for dinner or perhaps lunch on their last day...

I dont even make gold medallion any more with Delta with 3 weeks vacation. Rarely if ever airline mid-tour and the ferry home to avoid after midnight insanity happening more often really cuts down on airline flight segments.

That's the painful truth about CMH. I was gatewayed there for 3 years. It sucked.

the only good thing about cmh is sirens. Gator isn't that right?

you obviously haven't seen the chick with her eyes on the back.

I will be home for Brunch tomorrow. Sorry. But after 3 years of commuting, I don't feel bad.

I would think that after they have 500 pilots domiciled in CMH, not all could begin/end their tours there. They'd have to bring 150 A/C thru CMH every night.

they used to do it before the domiciles.

they would do it again in a heartbeat. For some reason the heart of the united states beats out of CMH.
