Actually, Puck, I think you're right: it really looks like they didn't even try to tighten it up until way late in the game.

I wonder why the military even made this public. Most people would not have even known there was an issue unless they said something. Ground the pilot if you want but keep this in-house(military).

The guy in the left seat of that B-17 is 84 years old, a WW2 vet
