Is this capable enough for working on my plane and troubleshooting issues?

That will work fine for almost everything except measuring current flows, where you will probably need either an external shunt or an external dedicated current-sensing loop, and radio frequency (RF) stuff, which will require dedicated test equipment.

For home use, measuring voltage, resistance, and DC current up to 10 A, I have found the cheapest Harbor Freight (Cen-Tech) meters to be more than sufficient.

They used to give them away and I probably have 6 or more of them. I once did a comparison between them for parallel voltage and series current measurement. They all gave almost identical readings. I spent my test equipment money on a spectrum analyzer and a digital storage 'scope.

If I doubt the Cen-Tech cheapo meters I can always fire up the HP 3478A.
