I'll take a CDO/Highspeed/nap/illegal any day over flying six legs during a 15 hour duty day.

The problem I have is with regional airlines who pay so poorly their pilots need to work second jobs to maintain an acceptable standard of living for their families. There's your untold safety story.

its our own fault for accepting these jobs. if noone would accept that crappy pay, they would pay more

WOW, you would gain a whole hour. Those overnight "camping trips" are 14 hours.

And to whoever said call the FAA hotline. Do you really think nobody has done that? Guess what, the FAAs response was,,,,,,"unfortunately it's legal."

not as an organized campaign by hundreds of pilots in a short span and with emphasis on the job security aspect of turning down trips.. I'm sure it's not been done, and certainly not with any Media contacts being informed of the campaign.

It was just a thought, I'm trying to find a solution to this serious problem.

Pinnacle: dude, let's go to FL410. Remember that one??

Again, I want professionals up front, not punks who thinks it's "cool" to go to 410.

Like the professionals at Northwest that forgot their take-off flaps?

Or like the pro's at KLM who decided to take off without a clearance?

I guess you could be refering to the pros at Southwest too???

Maybe you mean the pros at American?

Glad we could clear that up.

Excellent post, but I do think that he was just doing it for flamebait.

great news video. Glad to see the media didn't butcher any major parts of the story. It's a story that needs to be shown nationwide.

Well it's hard to get some decent sack time sleeping on plywood.

Yeah them regionals are dangerous. Mesaba; 62 years, 0 passenger fatalities.

Didnt Mesaba have a fatal in Dec 1993 up in Hibbing involving a Metroliner?

yeah well I'd watch it if I were you. I am sure alot of people don't want to see any middle east looking people on their flights either bud. You have no idea what you are talking about so STFU

Wow.

UPDATE:

Based on our most recent bid packet at Mesa, I would have to say that this TV spot had no effect. Actually, it would appear to have gotten measureably worse.

Campovers on the rise, across all bid lines. But the worst part . . . 14 hour campovers VERY MUCH on the rise . . these are by far the most dangerous, as 4 days in a row of 5-6 hours of sleep per night becomes a cumulative fatigue nightmare.

I can only hope that pilots are smart enough to start calling "fatigued" by day 3 on these CDO's.
