Ok, so I am new to the airline industry....I am sick of having to take my shoes off every time I go through a metal detector (especially in MCI every 3 f'in gates)....I don't want to go out and spend 30 bucks on a new pair of shoes that might still set the dang thing off. Can anyone throw out some brands that do not set it off that I could go out and buy?

Thanks,
BC

Rockport shoes. Comfortable and no steel shank. The only stuff I take off is my watch and cell phone (and my blazer when it's cold).

As of 2004, Rockport stopped putting steel shanks in their shoes and went to all fiberglass/ composite shanks. I called and got the skinny from the service folks. They are spendy but comfortable.

Rockport about $85 bucks. Bring them and have them x-ray it first and say that there is no metal. Then wear it. If it does then return them.. I think most Rockports are plastic shanks. Mine are fine....

You beat me to the send button

I know first year pay is rough, but you are going to have to spend more than $30 on a pair of shoes.

Ecco shoes are pricey, but do not set the metal detector off and last forever. If you are on a budget, there are some Rockports and a few others that also work. Do a search, and you will be able to find the specific models of the cheaper shoes.

buy nice ones without laces like idid and put up with it....some days it sets it off sometimes not

this is brought up every couple months....do a search on this board and you'll have more than enough information

Just take large steps, one shoe at a time. It hasn't failed me yet. No joking.

Deer Stags $40. I got another pair that I think were dockers, about $60. There's a logo or something on them that say airport safe or something to that effect

I went to the Sketchers outlet and bought some dress shoes that came with an "Airport Friendly" label on them. Spent about 50 bucks or so.

Ecco's at Nordstrom RacK. No metal slip ons that you can actually take long walks in. $40

try zappos.com.....they have a monstrous selection and have a page specifically for airport friendly shoes....prices range anywhere from 50 to 150 bucks if I remember correctly...

I'm on my third pair of Bostonians. Very comfortable, airport friendly, and a rubber bottom which is good in the ice and snow. The only downside is the ramp wears out the soles a little faster than a harder sole would.

I bought Capital by rockport.......we'll see if they work
