I thought DH proved you couldn't make money in an RJ....oh I know that was a CRJ and the ERJ is better....yeah right

If RJ's can't make money...they why do you suppose they exist in the first place? Folks, the airplane can make money in certain markets even on its own. This has been said numerous times already but people aren't getting it. Indy went out of business not just because they were using RJ's, but because they were using RJ's to compete one on one in a hub and spoke operation where United already had service to basically every single city that they served. In some cases, such as ORD ATL and EWR, they were actually competing with more than one major airline that flew much larger equipment on the same routes. There is absolutely NO comparison between that and what XJet is doing...besides using a somewhat similar aircraft.

I think it is naive to think that we will not have any competition. I'm sure we will at some point. That is part of doing business.

Yes the colors are late 1970's I wonder if ron jeremey will be on the xm...... not too good without vavava vidieo.......If you think we'll fail then don't try to jumpseat beatch. If you wish us luck........welcome aboard...

Another thing that is different from FlyI, is that XJT already has agreements with the major search engines (Orbitz, Travelocity, etc) for airfares, whereas FlyI had just their website.

I remember here in SAN when FlyI started going to IAD. Prior to them flying here, there was 1 flight a day by UA, afterwards UA increased service to 3 times daily and Jetblue introduced a new flight or two themselves. XJT as previously mentioned will not be flying on these types of pairings.

Well, hope you enjoy the $49.99 one-way crowd.

Orbitz, Expedia, Tavelocity and the like buy the tickets from the airlines and then sell them. What you pay on Expedia is not what the airline gets, they can get more and they can get less. The President/CEO of ExpressJet said the tickets would not be priced below market value (meaning, they intend to cover the costs) and since all the routes that will be flown currently have no service between them it looks like they are trying to use the airplane what it was designed for a fly city pairs that a 737 or an E-190 for that matter can't be profitable on. Next time educate yourself before you run your mouth.

Any of you remember Great Plains Airlines? They flew D328props, point to point....they are no longer with us.

Great Plains didn't have 210 airplanes flying on a CPA, more than $300 million in cash on the balance sheet, a lucritive charter business, and other things needed to cover the $800 million in start-up costs... I don't know much about their route structure but Bellville, IL to Topika, KS in a 328Prop with no codeshare or interline agreements doesn't seem to compare with what ExpressJet is looking to do (based on the 24 cities listed).

Face it folks, if this thing fails it fails but it won't fail because it is like ACA or anyone else... It's a new experiment totally different and exculded from reasonable comparison. Do I think/hope it will work? Yes. Do I know for sure? Of course not.

I sincerely hope it works out for you. It is unfortunate that you have to resort to painting airplanes like a throwup factory and selling seats on Hotwire.

I think it's a good opportunity to get away from the "they stole our flying", CPA, whipsawing, bulls#%t. I think it's unfortunate that undercutting (sometimes by management, sometimes by employees) leads to airlines being forced to make the tough decisions ExpressJet had to make. We can't change the fact that CHQ was willing to give CAL cost plus 3% when we were doing cost plus 10% - CHQ pilots can't help that either we both show up to do what we are paid to do and go home at the end of the day... Thats why I don't understand people rooting for our failure instead of our success (unless we didn't hire them).

I like the paintjob, has a cool 70's theme to it. I hope the business plan works out for you guys too. Giving the airplanes away and cutting the number and staff would have been the easy thing to do. Can't say your management team doesn't have a pair.
