I saw one doing charters the other day in PHL. It looked exactly the same except the tail was plain blue without the CAL globe on it, and no Continental Express painted on the side. It still had the Express Jet painted on the engines though.

They will eventually all be repained like that, outfitted with better padding in the seats, and XM radio.

To me, those planes look a lot better like this than they would with a CAL deathstar on the tail with "Operated by Chautauqua" on the side, which was the other alternative. Sure, it's the same road that ACA went down, but neither airline really had a choice.

More power to them, of course, but I wonder if the first place I'll actually see one of these birds for real will be on line, or parked in the desert in Tucson?

For the pilots sake, I hope this works. But creating an airline using 44 50-seat ERJ's? Charging full fare tickets? Uh, good luck with that.

As was told to me as a new hire almost 2 years ago, XJT has been exploring flying as it's own branded airline pre 9-11. That says to me that they were not planning on being Cal's whipping boy for all of eternity. Simply put XJT could have just dropped the 69 aircraft off of their books and reduced the number of employees required to staff the airline unit. In this day and age of increased corporate scrunity I would guess the Charter/Branded airline project must have produced some pretty good numbers for the Board Of Directors to sign off on it. In the end the consumer will be the ultimate judge, none of us as pilots can make someone fly a certain route or airline. We can only hope our management is doing what is going to insure our respective companies futures......

Nasty paint job. Looks like 1978. Fugly as hell. Good luck with that. Do you have mood lighting too?
