Has anyone encountered the new TSA "Behavior Detection Officers"? I was pulled for random screening by one of them because I was "sweating excessivly" and apparently that added to having a SIDA badge identified me as a potential hazard to the aviation security system.

It is amazing that instead of looking for the real problem, they have now added overweight (ok fat if you want to say that) people to the list of potential security risk. I sweat alot, I always have, but "excessive" is an objective term.

Also apparently badged employees are no longer exempt from random screening, I wish when they change the rules on us they would let us know.

Become an FFDO. Problem solved.

Im not surprised by these tsa-holes anymore!!

I'm an instructor, not a line pilot so FFDO is not an option. I'm just amazed at the hole process. I think I would have been ok, if when I asked what was going on I had recieved an explanation instead of an argument.

File a harassment complaint with the TSA and write a letter to your senator and congressman.

Yeah the problem is called being overweight, it happens. I have a high body temp and will sweat in low temps as well. Has been that way all my life. Regardless it shouldn't make me a target.

Join a regional and that'll help you lose weight.

Not true. I have gained a poochy belly from sitting on my ass for 14 hour days. Also, not eating at regular times makes you fat because your body goes into starvation mode. I would probably even be fatter but I can't afford food on my pay.

Instructor, as a cfi?? I dont think a badge from a flight school is reconized by TSA so you would be subject to normal harrassement.

Hole process?

I think you just wrote "hole process".......
He, he, he, he..........
-By getting "pulled aside" do you mean you got to spend some quality personal time with "helga-mistress of the rubber glove?" I'll bet she gave you some very special "hole time."

Sounds like profiling to me!

TSA...Uhm, yeah...

I personally have the worst time with the small town overnight TSA people:

I routinely keep my toiletries/lotion/makeup in a plastic bag just in case they want to screen me like a regular passenger....mind you, I am commuting in UNIFORM.....I failed to put a small bottle of lotion in with the other crap (zipped it in a side pocket) and got pulled aside saying I could not have it. I argued for about 5 minutes to no avail.

Captain laughed and said "She's flying up front with me today. I think the lotion won't be a problem."

TSA ogre looked at us in horror. Had to call a supervisor to clear it up.

TSA making mistakes? Mis-informed? Scrutinizing grandmas & pilots? It apparently happens all the time. :D
