No upgrades?!?!?!?!? I thought they're short on captains, and they've got a bunch sitting around. . . oh, wait - they can't let those reinstatement rights kick in!
 
What advantage does the reinstatement rights give to pilots? Is it a money thing, or a seat lock thing, or what? Just curious...

You get your position back ahead of pilots senior to you who don't have reinstatement rights. Also there is no seat lock involved.
