Man I love these things. Speculation at it's best. Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic. Seems that Greg Brenneman was appointed to UAL last night as the new CFO???CEO???COO???

No flames! Not intended as a joke! User is not responsible for content!

and go!

If that's the case, United just became a major force to be reckoned with. Brenneman is the genius behind CAL's turnaround, Gordon was the face put on it.

maybe a CAL/UAL merger is on the horizon...They sure would have the world covered. Seniority integration would be a nightmare though.

Why does seniority integration have to be such an issue? Are not fences, ratio to aircraft types etc available to mitigate problems. It seems both firms have things well covered and aircraft that are very compatible. Work forces seemto be somewhat compatible albeit CAL is hiring whilst we are merely calling back. It seems there are some very smart folks with both firms that could take the best of the companies and truly make one hell of a airline?

He wasn't appointed to any position with UAUA as far as I know.

Lots of talk around TK and the line guys about a UAL/CAL merger.

Another rumor is Polar Air, I know we are gearing up on PI's on the 747-400 fleet, with a big wide body bid this fall, also as long as we are tlaking rumors the B767 fleet is talking about a Far East base.

Could you elaborate more on what you've heard about the Polar rumor?

I don't think it matters how we feel about it, how much of a pain the integration will bring or even how much oil costs. I am just glad both are ALPA carriers.

If it will seem to the bosses as a good idea for the business it will happen and no one will ask pilots!

And it seems like the consolidations are the next steps.

Skyteam would never let one of their franchises merge with a Star alliance franchise and vice versa. Can we put these rumors to bed please?

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

ALPA-ALPA merger = nothing to worry about. Neutral arbitration will guarantee either DOH, relative seniority or ratio integration, one of those three.

Scott Dolan (sp?) talked with some of the recalled pilots about how it is his desire to obtain a Cargo operation with at least SIX -400's, TURNKEY. Looking at the fact Polar is dumping the Classics and I believe that several years ago 1998? 1999? UAL looked into buying Polar but I am not sure.

Seems to be the talk around the 747-400 fleet out here in DENTK right now, I guess we will see.

Scott Dolan was an ex-CFO of Atlas I believe? He is now in charge of all UAL Cargo and Airport operations.
