Dojetdriver......ugghhh, it's like having a conversation with a 5 year old. Or better yet, like watching my puppy eat it's own crap. Just can't help you or my puppy. You're generalizing and making assumptions based on my posts. Where did I say that 'no other employee' should have 'any' pass benefits? I didn't. You're exhausting my friend. But, I'll make it CLEAR...........my pass benefits along with other pilots at my airline should enjoy benefits that are greater and equal to what management has enjoyed in the past. If you're a lav dumper or cleaning person, you shouldn't have the same benefits. Don't like it? Well, work as hard as I did and enjoy the benefits of that effort. I'm tired of spreading my hard earned perks for the benefit of everyone else. I remember when ASA and the government required fingerprinting years ago. ASA lost about 30 percent of their rampers and workforce the day before it was required. Why's that? Anyhow, I'm waiting..........for you to start.......eating you're own crap now. Figure the puppy is smarter.

Flopgut,

Your point is well taken.. I'm reminded every day by my own 25 and 27 year old sons about the "me" generation of today.. instant gratification, got to have it now syndrome.. you have not yet traveled the road these retired guys have.. I have not either, but I suspect I am closer to that road than you are..

You should ask yourself, how you might feel about this if you were them... They don't have any ability to change what they were supposed to get, "earned" when they were active pilots and when those planned on benefits change they rightfully get upset... Their years on this planet are much more numbered than yours..

On the other hand your active and have your whole career in front of you and have choices that can still affect your retirement.. So you are working now based on things you will "expect" to receive when you retire... So you see life runs full circle... and your day will come when your not happy about the things you were promised but have little control over...

That's the first mistake. Why in the world would you base your financial future on a promise? Anyone that's not saving for retirement and banking on having a retirement pension is an idiot. I'm tired of putting my career on pause for the gummers to figure it out. I'm willing to bet that these gummers that will go to 65 will have NO MORE MONEY and in fact, will have less. They've had 5 more years to LOSE money. If they could go to 85, they would. Most don't have lives and flying a plane and feeling the power that 4 stripes gives is all they have. I'm so disappointed by the older generation. How about this? The ME generation is really the gummers, not my generation. Get the hell out of my way.

These gummers will have no more money if they went to 85. If you don't have personal responsibility with your finances, you won't change by working longer. What these gummers are doing now is sad. Most don't have lives and their only meaning in life is to have 4 stripes and be respected by their position. They disgust me and I'll be there when I can with a smile when they are FORCED to punch out.

You are obviously wrapped around the axel over age 65. Is it because YOU want to have four stripes or because YOU need the money?
If you are unhappy and stressed out now, upgrading won't change anything. You'll just complain about your F/O's

No Dan. It is because he's earned his chance at the stripes and the money and they are both overdue. If you had an ethical bone in your body this would be abundantly clear. The gall and arrogance of your generation is immeasurable. The age changed in the least ethical way it could, at the worst possible time, creating near-crisis situations for far too many pilots while simultaneously creating a windfall for guys like you. Yet you sit at the table with it all running down your face crying for more...

So says the 767 Capt. Unbelievable.......

I don't know what my being a Captain has to do with it. It appears to be a bigger deal to you than me.

Personally I treat any F/O I am working with as an equal partner with the same goal as me. We fly from point A to B together and have a good time doing it.
I like my job, but I like my life away from it a lot better. I certainly don't feel any different as a Captain than I did as an F/O. My job description changed a little when I go to work is all. It's not that big a deal. It didn't change my relationship with my family, it didn't change how I relate to friends or anything else that matters in life. When you upgrade all you get is a little more money and a little more junior schedule. You can make smart financial choices as an F/O and be better off than some Captain that makes one or two dumb choices.
