Does anyone know where the remaining starlifters are based? I saw they are supposed to be retired by FY2006. They are being replaced in the guard/reserve by C-17's and C-5's.

You are right, the 135 doesn't carry much cargo, but then again, that's not it's job. Barney and Fred do a much better job at that mission. The 135 won't go away for a long time, the guard and Reserve tankers will be 135R's while the AD units get the new tanker, whatever that is.
