Dude,

I think line consist of 85 trips minimum. Normally, They range from 89 - 103 trips for pay. I average about 108 trips per month.

Example - Second year FO

$5654.17 per month (low) 89 trips, 18-19 days off

$6543.59 per month (high) 103 trips, 17-18 days off

Most 1st year Captain's (5th year pay)

$11710.62 per month (low) 89 trips 18-19 days off

$13552.74 per month (high) 103 trips 17-18 days off

Only to get better... with raises in the future. By 2006 Captains will be making 200,000+ per year. Not counting stock options and profit sharing.

A great palce to work with a great future. 100 airplanes in 3 years = 1100 pilots (not counting retirements.)

One would be crazy not to consider SWA. Do your homework.

I will be a Captain here at SWA by the time some of my friends get their call back at various airlines. GO SWA!

So... How many shuttle missions do you have to have commanded to get hired these days?;)

Seriously, what is the mix of civilian to military guys getting hired? Are many furloughees(or should I say 'refugees') are getting on? Thanks in advance.TC

Don't know dude,

My class (two years ago) was 75% civilian. Its a mix. I'd say mostly civilian types, since there are not that many military pilots (not like the old days) coming out or allowed out thesedays.

If you have the right personality, meet the minimums w/ a type rating and resign your seniority number at your previous carrier - of course they will hire you.

The April 7th class was split right down the middle and there were no astronauts or thunderbirds among us. But exactly 100 % (except maybe me) had high GDFs* and were easy to talk to/get along with etc. The backgrounds within each category (mil/civi) were also diverse: just about any kind of aviation was represented - guys who started in gliders, rotors, floats, banner towing, crop dusting, B52, F16, C130, S3, E3, C12 ... but no one had a lunar landing. Please don't give up hope and stop trying (unless you are a jerk ;) )

* good dude(tte) factor

Yup, May 5th class was pretty much 50/50 as far as mil vs civ, but I think only 4 were straight military with no civilian experience. Backgrounds were very diverse (like Ivauir said). Everything from Boeing to Airbus to RJ's to fighters to tankers to coporate to prop-trash. One punk even managed to sneak in with only Metroliner time.
That autopilot thing is pretty cool! ;)

uh, ummmmmm...punk=SilentDave???:p

Pretty much down the middle..

We had everything in my class including a Marine!!

Anyway..
Its all about your personality and history with people youve worked with..

They bottom line is that it really doesnt matter where you come from..

What does matter is weither i can work with you for four days at hard labor and not want to kill you..

Mike
