Can someone please go over this information. I read somewhere that you are able to fly aircraft that cruise at over 87 knots...does anyone know about this?

Thanks for your help!

If you don't want to sit and read the new regulations (they are interesting - the FAA's first attempt at writing the regulations in "Plain English" but tey are still in the "Final Rule" format with a lot of extraneous material)) start with http://www.sportpilot.org/ It's a site maintained by the EAA.
