got an email saying I had to pay my way to hawaii for the interview for a job in NM since its pacwings.

"Dear Pilot Applicant for VFR Captain:

Thank you for your interest in Pacific Wings Airlines. We are constantly
recruiting to find the absolute best candidates as our airline grows. We
are currently interviewing for immediate Captain positions in Maui, Hawaii.

Pacific Wings Airline is a Maui, Hawaii based airline and have been in
business for over 33 years. We currently fly a fleet of Cessna Grand
Caravans. Although Caravan experience is a plus, it is not necessary to
join our core of pilots. We are looking for highly motivated pilots that
can handle passengers, baggage, customer service issues, and are willing to
put in the effort to make Pacific Wings Airline a great airline.

You must be a FAA certified pilot and be able to work in the United States
of America. You must meet this requirement to work for Pacific Wings
Airline.

We provide all training requirements. We will require you to sign a
one-year pro-rated training contract agreement.

If offered the position you will be hired as a VFR Captain and upon reaching
IFR mins you will be required to upgrade to IFR Captain. Our minimum
requirements for IFR Captain are per 135.243: Commercial SEL, and Instrument
Airplane, 1200 Total Time, 500 hours of cross country, 100 hours of night,
and 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument.

We provide full medical at no expense after the first 30-60 days of
employment. Spouses, children, and dental coverage are extra. We offer
Vacation and Holiday benefits, and a 401K. As a Captain, you also have
jumpseat and non-rev privileges with most major airlines.

If you are interested in becoming a VFR Captain for Pacific Wings, we invite
you to come to Maui for an interview. We know that your experience here will
be rewarding and valuable.

Upon receiving this email response and you are still interested in becoming
a Captain for our airline, email back to me with the phrase "VFR PIC" in the
subject line. All communications with me must be via e-mail only, do not
call.

Mahalo,

Gabriel Kimbrell -

Why not call? I did not see where you had to get your own ticket, if that is the case, I bet this guy would have you "wire " money to him to buy ticket, either that or he wants your personal info to take your identity.
Call the company and ask to speak w/ this person, bet he does not even work there....

JMO....

Don't even think about it! Hawaii or NM. Working there would be one of your biggest mistakes. Place is wreckless, the pay is bad, they will try to screw you over in the end, and you will be working for a management consisting of gays(seriously). Especially Gabriel Kimbrell.

You know, looking at your avatar I'm suprised that being wreckless is a concern of yours.

I'd rather be wheeling in a parking lot than getting sent off in a VFR plane on a IMC day. Or being a passenger while the chief pilot is flying in the clouds at 500 feet beside 1500' cliffs with the TAWS going off.

Hey man, what ever floats your boat. It's your "mellon" not mine....lid skid or not.

key words are constantly hiring...... Gabe is the biggest doosh in the industry hes i think 25 now no calls because he has the personality of a small pebble... it would for sure end your desire to work there.. that being said. I loved flying there-(hawaii) hated the company but loved the flying.. i wasnt a vfr captain... but everyone i worked with was cool other than above mentioned bag o vinegar- I would say it was a great experience but to do all of that to fly in new mexico??????? tell them to interview you here- they can jump seat out for the interview you cant. but seriously dude... run away.. fast

pebble personality?!?

actually, the personality is more akin to a wet fart!

so, are they having the low time guys that used to be SIC's flying by themselves in VFR conditions as Captain?

Crazy.......

I'm off Maui and back in the pacific NW now. I look back at my time at P wings and laugh. You have to, otherwise you would hate yourself for working there.
