hmmmm

I just heard that Eastman Kodak is laying off about 6000 employees due to the lack of business in films. I wonder how this position would be affected??

Probably not at all... My company laid off thousands of people over the last 2 years and we hired 3 pilots last year... Laying off people in the factories and hiring one or two pilots are two totally different things.

yeah, layoffs dont mean much...usually that just means ridding themselves of unprofitable divisions, they could be hiring in others..

but the fact that Kodak stock is at a 17 YEAR low might get me thinking a little....

also maybe find out WHY they have openings. Is it retirements or is it pilots leaving for other companies?? That gives you some insight also. I know no facts here, just tossing some ideas.

Sounds like a great deal for a local guy, but something to think hard about before moving the family or something...

I know a guy at Kodak who says good things about the place ... two CL-604s and a Global, and there are worse places than the ROC to live. You've just got to be able to stand the snow, and there's plenty of it.

I know their former CP retired recently, perhaps the opening is to fill a spot at the bottom after everybody moved up.

This posting is no longer at kodak.com. My guess would be they hired a pilot to fill the opening brought about by their retired CP. Likely they already had someone hired and put the job on the website as a formality to check a box on an HR form about advertising it. I know Kodak (like everyone else) likes folks recommended by somebody on the inside.
