New FDX base rumor

Since the last rumor I tested for validity here seemed to have some truth, I'll see what this one holds....I have heard Geensboro, NC (Piedmont Triad) will be a new FDX 727 and Airbus base when it opens around 2006...have also heard MD-11's could have a base out of there as well. I know it is supposed to be about as big an operation as IND, but can anyone confirm it as a pilot base in the not-so-distant future?

Well I can tell you that the GSO airport authority is buying up surrounding property to expand the runways for FedEx

I know that it is supposed to be hub, like IND, EWR, OAK, but haven't heard a thing about it being a pilot base. Merry Chistmass to all.........even you Doughboy!

I wasn't here when it happened, but I think that when they opened the IND hub and the AFW hub, the same rumor of new domiciles was flying around for a long time. I think even the company said that IND would be a domicile (I thought I heard a guy say that once). I think it's just alot of wishful thinking.

However, since we're in rumor mode. If we have the rumored 7000 pilots in so many years, there would almost have to be an east coast domicile. Since EWR didn't work back a few years ago, they may try GSO. Don't buy a house there yet though.
