FANTASTIC!!! Especially since I live not too far from Sacramento. I had a feeling that SMF was on the short list. I am sure the flights will be full. As we get more planes, I bet we add a few more flights in short order.

Now I'll have even more layovers at home! Between OAK and SMF layovers, I bet I'm home 20-22 nights a month as a commuter! Life is good.

Cracks me up about that guy who posted a while ago, who lives in Sacramento. He wondered if Jetblue "was worth the hassle" for a commuter out of SMF. I guess he decided to opt for the "desk job" rather than lower himself to apply for a job here, not that he even stood a chance of getting hired with his attitude.

Wow....When did this happen?

Skirt,

My favorite "attitude" is the ex-mil guy who has a 17 year career ahead of him (max), and says something like "well, JB (or SWA, ATA, or Airtran) don't pay the captain rates that FDX or UPS (or Dal, AA, etc)..."

However, I'll take a good Captain's rate in 2 years any day over a great rate 15 years from now...if I even get to see it then. However, you said it best...if someone has to "compromise" to work at a LCC, then that carrier probably didn't want them anyway.

You, more than most, can comment about the pros/cons of various airline lifestyles. Without "slamming" your previous employers it will be fun to hear your take on the differences when and if you are ready to share them with readers.

Fly safe...

Back to back = "I'll be back"......

Rumor has it that none of our planes will RON there because Sacramento already has a "Terminator".

Sorry.....I had to get that joke off of my chest.

Congrats Skirt. I'm sure that this will significantly increase your quality of life.

Gee, Skirt, your JetBlue decision is lookin' better each day, huh?!?!?

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Skirt.........You LCC pilots with your holy than thou attitude make me sick...the day you guys have to eat your words will be a glorious day in aviation.

Intruder One,

Quit intruding, go be miserable in your own crappy world.

Congrats Skirt!

Intruder One,

Wrong message board buddy... this is for interview information only.

Actually, LCC's are the only ones hiring, right? So you have to ask yourself, do you want a flying career or do you want to fly a desk? (like networkQueen). Being out of work at a legacy carrier will not pay the bills. Time on furlough, money lost will never be made up.

Now if your up the ladder on the "list" you might have less to worry about, provided your company stays in business. But I can say that my LCC has never cut my pay or benefits.

love ya

:)

Rude One

The only one displaying a holier than thou attitude is yourself. If you were trying to make a point it was quickly lost with your hypocrisy. Why don't you take Bill's advice and go back under the rock you crawled out from.

Happy New Year everybody!

I just read an article in the Tampa Tribune which discussed jetBlue's future growth plans. The article made brief mention about the possible plans of expanding their NYC base beyond JFK. Here's the quote:

"JetBlue has grown by focusing much of its service at New York City's JFK International Airport, including six daily flights from Tampa. Now its expansion strategy may include serving other airports around New York City."

If true this would be a major change to the airline's original business plan concerning its selection of JFK as a homebase versus LGA or EWR. In a related article, jetBlue had become the largest carrier at JFK carrying over 6.8 million passengers from Nov 01, 2002 to Oct 31, 2003, surpassing AA with 6.7 million passengers. Not bad for an airline with less than fifty airplanes in its fleet during that time.

Here's the Link

Albie,

Actions speak louder than words.

Nuff said.

Skirt (aka happy camper);)

Boy you sure can't criticize JB.....touchy bunch.TOOooooo bad free country and message board.

Anyway I see AA is on the attack and others will soon follow....................your days are numbered.

I've heard this before...

"your days are numbered..."
Seing as this week is Macworld in San Francisco, I can't help but think of Apple here. Journalists, analysts, and joe shmo have been predicting Apple's demise for (literally) years. No matter what Apple does, they're only putting off the inevitable. Yet, even with <6% market share, they profit, innovate and retain and even grow a little they're customer base with products that cost more but are geared towards a more pleasant/productive user experience.
JetBlue smartly realizes that pleasing the customer pays dividends. Mgt. there constantly harps on their devoted customers (I just watched Neeleman on the local LA news this morning touting it along with the new Boston service and I smiled when he said that American couldn't lure passengers away with low fares and now has to resort with giving away tickets which he called "unsustainable") and they know that if they continue to offer exemplary customer service (along with the rest of the product), people will return and not be lured away by the latest promotion from Airline X. I dont' think JetBlue's days are numbered - on the contrary, by some of the vitriol I see on these boards, people are envious of the success and fear its continuance.
Good luck with Boston and the XM radio.

Hey Intruder,

What's your problem? You sound like a bitter old man who isn't happy unless everyone else is miserable like you. You must be a Democrat!! What is wrong with people being excited about their company without you jumping on their parade. You sound like a lot of fun to be around.......

Man Im excited good things are happening BUT the 18 of us who are STILL waiting to hear about Phase II from OCT 14th grrrrrrr Its been almost 3 months. Any JB pilot know whats up or care to call dean and ask. Thanks for any information

For the record, it's SMF, not SAC.

I knew that, but couldn't remember the identifier of the airport, so I used the navigational ID that I have flown over everytime I depart OAK for JFK.

I've never actually landed in Sacremento....but it looks like that is about to change.

Thanks for the friendly correction.

What's up with Intruder? Is he an AA pilot who's scared to death that his "A Plan" won't be there when he retires?

Keep whistling past that graveyard. It's one less person competing for that coveted LCC job!:D TC
