Looks good, but mey, still just a cessna.
 
Yea and it will probably "only" cost about $300,000.oo Can anyone still aford to buy a new GA plane these days??

No, it's slightly smaller than a C152. The new top model Cessna 172SP goes for $241,000 right now. I would guess this new light sport Cessna will be around $100k - $180k range.

I could definitely see flight schools using it for primary and (if it is instrument certified) instrument training. It's going to be alot cheaper to operate than 172's, Warriors, etc... Good for the flight school and good for the renters.

Cessna's CEO does keep hinting at the fact that the 172, 182, and 206 lines are going to be stopped and replaced. I can't wait to see what they replace them with. Interesting times!

For some reason it looks like a Cirrus with a high wing... Other than that it doesnt look any different! Way to go Cessna with making an a/c to compete with Cirrus! Wait, didnt they just make another Cirrus? BAH!

Actually this isn't an aircraft intended to compete with Cirrus. It's intended market is recreational and training. To me it resembles the Symphony 160 more than a mix between Cessna and Cirrus.

Cessna may be unvieling their direct competitor to the Cirrus SR22 this year. Guess we'll see. I'm looking forward to it!

I think you guys are talking about two different airplanes.

Cessna brought an LSA proof of concept vehicle to display, and a next generation single engine prototype did a few low passes.

Really? I would have thought that when it was finished it came out small, even though they intended it to be much larger.
 
The high prices for aircraft these days will eventually be the death knell for general aviation. $80K to the moon for a two seat LSA from any number of manufacturers? That's insane.

But they are still selling a ton of them. I was at PWK a few weeks ago, and that place is loaded with 400K Cirrus and 600K Columbia 400's.

That's my understanding. It is shown more clearly in the photos I posted above. The LSA has a strutted wing. The above photos show that the "heavy" airplane doesn't have a strutted wing, and has doors for a rear seat, so they must be two separate airplanes.
