The vacancies on a bid have nothing to do with people, it has to do with manpower positions. Those vacancies aren't created because people are leaving Newark, they're created from flying hours the company plans to fly out of Newark a year from now.

The "nobody wants to stay in EWR" does contribute to it being the most junior base, but it has nothing to do with bid vacancies.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on that IAH 777 FO 1 seat. :)

Am I right in thinking that they have been inundated with apps since they started recruiting again (stupid question)

They slowed hiring down considerably over the summer. But, rumour has it that in either aug or sept it will be ramped back up to 60 a month for the forseeable future. good luck and keep the faith

Especially if you live in a mcmansion somewhere in anywhere USA. Houston is lame...But I guess it's a step up if you live in some other flyover state.

You and 8,000 other dudes my friend.

actually i think there are only about 3500 applications on file

most junior 777 FO EWR went to 5/06 class date, two guys are not even done with 737 training or just finishing IOE.

737 CApt ewr went 3800 out of 4700-4800 pilots

As much as EWR is a dump and VERY expensive....the flying there is the best in the company unless you are a VERY senior IAH 756.

IMHO

not to hijack this thread.......whats a crashpad run around there? easy transport to EWR?

Crashpads in EWR anywhere from $110 - $275 with transportation. www.blockedinn.com

EWR is an awesome base with outstanding flying on all aircraft. Many guys live in PA, some NY,DL and even NJ. Some nice areas in NY a little ways out and as close as :30.

Now where is the place for $110 a month. What, are you sleeping in a van down by the river?

Actaully a crashpad in Roselle Park, an ex New York Air crashpad. Internet, own bunk, satellite tv, just need to have a car. Nice place. they have had the lease for so long they have been able to keep the cost down. The one next door is $160, same deal an ex- PE pad.
