Announced Yesterday:

4 New Hire Classes at 16 pilots each. (For attrition, not growth.)

March 27, April 10, April 24, May 8.

Good luck to those in the pool!

Did anyone else hear this same news? I found it interesting that ASA plucks you out of the pool by how competitive you are and not when you interviewed. Hopefully, all of us in the pool get a call soon.

They better increase that number by a dozen or so. I know of quite a few pilots leaving shortly.

They are looking at 16 new IPs also. The training dept will back to taking lines for training in May. 4 to 14 lines begining in May.

Has anyone gotten the call from ASA yet on a class date? I would LOVE to believe this...but I have been let down many previous times after getting my hopes up because I "heard" something. I've been in the pool since October and cant wait to get out. I'll have the phone on high ringer all day!

It is true. The March 27 class is already full, and being notified.

Upgrades at ASA????? Unheard of!!!!! What next? ACARS, the Alternate Brick, A CONTRACT???

Aviator...do you know when people are going to be notified?

Why don't you go over and pick up the phone and call 404-766-1400 and ask for Danny Robertson and ask him.

Still waiting here. I interviewed back in October with 1050/105 and have around 1360/160 now. I look forward to starting training soon! I'll let you guys know as soon as I hear something.

Our contract is under assault.

Management is proposing to keep newhire pay under 20 bucks an hour.

And they are lining up with stars in their eyes to work here....

is it a wonder the industry is completely phu ked up?

I dont think, at least for me, I have stars in my eyes for the possibility of flying a jet. For me, coming to a regional from being a full time CFI will be a pay cut of 10k a year. Not glamorous. However, apparently the only way to move up to get a job flying turbine whether it be 135 or 91 is to miraculously have 100 hours of turbine. Without having daddy to pay for that, its up to me to work my up to get to where I want to be. This may or may not be a toes up job for the rest of us, mearly a stepping stone. Time will only tell.

I agree. You can't fault someone for taking perhaps the only opportunity out there to advance their career. The problem is not the new people. When a major airline says they want 1000 turbine and 500 PIC, how else are people going to get that time? Do you really expect someone trying to break into this career to turn down a turbine job because it doesn't pay enough. Most people view that first year as "paying dues."

You can't blame low pay on the people willing to accept it. You must blame the management for not having the ethics to pay a decent wage.

There are no stars in my eyes either...The fact is I need that turbojet time in order to move on. I will take a $10,000 paycut as well when I will get hired. I already have plenty of instruction time...time to do something else.

Do you work at ASA?
If so, how much did you get paid on your first year?
Do you have another idea to get the turbine time when daddy is not in the business or full of $$??
I tell you what... You will do exactly the same!

The commuter/regionals have always paid their employees crap. That's not new.

Now, if you hear anything...let us know.
It's good for you anyway, that way you'll move up.

That's turbine 121 PIC time everybody seems to want today. If you are coming to ASA for that, expect to wait about 7 years or more before you can upgrade
