I just received an e-mail with the following:

American Eagle Airlines would like to announce new Pilot minimums of 800 hours of total time and 100 hours of multi-engine time. Eagle remains committed to their current hiring standards and looks forward to hearing from pilots who meet, come close or exceed the new minimums.
American Eagle is planning on hiring approximately 700 pilots in 2007 and is now offering flexibility in choice of domicile with confirmation prior to training. Pilots interested in seeking an interview should accurately complete and publish their application on-line with Airline Apps. For further information, please contact American Eagle Pilot Recruitment at [email protected].

I just figured I'd pass on the info.

Did the e-mail say what equipment new hires are getting?
My guess is the Super 80 or the 737.

Actually, applicants who interned at AA while at Riddle have a chance to maybe get the 767. But they'll need 200 multi for insurance reasons.

Not when AA merges with AAA, you might be seeing the A350 go junior to do the China routes.

But you will probably need previous 121 time to get the A350.

er...I made a bit of a mistake.

My title should have said American Eagle not AA.

There is a bit of difference.

Mods: feel free to fix the title.

My apologies for the misrepresentation.

I thought that 800/100 thing was a joke, but that is in fact what it says. My God what's happened in this industry? That doesn't even meet Part 135 PIC minimums!

The sad part of this is that the traveling public thinks they're buying a ticket on "American Airlines." What a scam. No way this should be legal. If the public only knew.

I am sure that the public is a lot more concerned about saving ten bucks then what Eagles mins are. If they paid more for a ticket, wages would go up, and we could keep mins up as well.

Are you joking. You mean MGT would reward themselves with bonuses. You get what you negotiate, not what you deserve. I'm sure Eagle's new hires are only going to demand the highest of wages. Thereby raising the bar for the entire airline industry.

This is true, MGT would reward themselves. My point was that the public does not really care about who is flying them around, rather who is going to do it the cheapest.
And while pay is way, way to low, Eagle does pay new hires better then most regionals(still crap pay, just higher crap). One day we as a pilot group need to grow a set of balls and change things, till then nothing will change. I will be in, and out within two years, and then I can take the job flying the G-IV that I want(know the CP, but still will not budge on the 4K TT and 2K turbine.)

And 57Jetflyer, you spent a lot of time listing all of the equip you have flown!!

It's the 50's and 60's again. Gimme a commercial ticket and I'll come work for you, no, ok I'll get mine and THEN come work for you!

I've spent quite a lot of time in training for that equipment! Besides, those who know what I've flown can tell where I've been and who I've worked for. Might lend an air of credibility when I post. On second thought, probably not!
BTW, Good on your prospective employer, Keep the bar high for hiring will keep the bar high for pay. We all need to stop selling out!

Yeah, I was just razzing you, more equip then I have seen!!! I am assuming that you work for AMR?? When I was in Dallas for training started talking to a few AA 57 drivers at the bar, next thing I knew they took for of us new guys out for drinks and then the Fantasy Ranch.

More true words could not be spoken. The only way for this to change will be a new reg, which would, unfortunatetly, be written in blood.

Not gonna happen. Fact is, a part 121 carrier, even with an 800 hour wonder in the right seat, is incredibly safe.

I just got out of IOE, where there was an individual in our class who had approximately 300 hours TT. I was speaking with another classmate, who told me of a conversation this pilot had with the assigned IOE captain. I wasn't there, but supposedly the flight doubled the amount of actual instrument time in the individual's logbook.

Please tell me this is a 'shoe' show. I'm afraid it kinda sounds like the blue oyster.

I am not sure what a shoe show is, but there were a lot of good looking naked women there who let me touch their fun bags.
