I thought this was so depressing it inspired me to make my first post on FlightInfo.

I worked at ASA from March Till August. Three months of that was line flying. In two of those three months I had over 93 hours of credit while on reserve.

W2 taxable earnings for six months at ASA: $7800

I started at NetJets in late September. All of my 2005 earnings at NetJets were during training. Most of the pay is based on the old contract. At the end of December I had two weeks of unpaid leave for medical purposes.

W2 taxable earnings for three months at NetJets: $9700

Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against the great crewmembers at ASA. I flew with some fantastic folks there. I was just working on my taxes and found it sad that I made 25% more at NetJets while in training, getting a type rating, in half the time I was at ASA.

To make it worse I was a commuter at ASA and had to fit the bill for about 12 hotel rooms in those three months. You add on to that the fact that NetJets fits the bill for my family's medical, dental and vision insurance and things start really adding up.

I don't want to even go into how crappy management treats the pilots at ASA. I sure hope you guys can get a good contract worked up that helps improve these pay and QOL issues. If not, and you meet the NJA minimums, can handle 7-on 7-off and can deal with the new domicile rules I bet the recruiters at NJA would love to see your resume. I knew it was the best move I ever made.

Good luck.
