Are you required to maintain a first class medical at NetJets (even while you're a First Officer)?

Thanks

Yep!!

Not according to what we were told. You need a First Class to get hired but only need to maintain a Second class....but they pay for a First Class.

We must obtain a first class, but we are not required to maintain it. Ie. You get a medical once a year. That is all the company will pay for. If you would like to get one every 6 mo, the second one is on your dime.

In "my currency" section of the BB it says med. due in Sept./08..1 year from my last first class. So a second class is ok to have as an FO

I think the medical must be issued as a First Class but can lapse to a Second class for FO's

Check your FOM or Contract. I am pretty sure that it says that SICs are required to maintain a First Class. The company has reimbursed me for each of my First Class medicals (still an SIC).

Been here 2.5 yrs and have only gotten a medical once every 12 months.

If you go to the company web sight and go to your personal page it will tell you when your medical is due.

SIC only need to maintain a 2nd class.

Just to let you know, it doesn't cost anything to pay attention

Well, you made me go dig up my FOM and my new contract.

FOM page p1-23. (dated 20 APR 07) ....bottom of the page there is a note...

NOTE: ...each crewmember must maintain a First Class medical certificate....

Contract p220 (the new IBB contract) 25.1 states...

...each crewmember must maintain a First Class Medical Certificate. ...

According to both the FOM and the Contract, each crewmember must maintain a first class medical. I understand that as both PICs and SICs.

And like I said, the company has reimbursed me on each one, without question.
